I had the same thing happen to a Troy, which I replaced with a Geissele (bit broke off). I put the upper in the freezer for a bit (the barrel nut was also giving me fits, even heat did nothing). I left it in the deep freezer for about an hour or two, then took it to the bench. After a prayer, the nut broke lose with ease, and that broken off bit fell out of the gas glock set screw.
Also, my Troy leaked BAD, however it never caused any issue with the rifle's operation. bigbore from ADCO told me that it was fine, and that it would eventually seal (which it did).
This was when it first started leaking, it got MUCH worse. Rifle still cycled fine with all ammo I used.
When I removed the rail, I saw that is was leaking at the front and back of the block, with the gas build up extending almost an inch from both sides. I wish I could have snapped a pic before I cleaned it all off and installed my Geissele Super Gas Block and SMR rail. The Geissele has been rock solid, no leaks.
Good luck Grim.
