Any news on the Meprolight new 4X compact scope? Release date? Who make the glass? Battery life? Cost?

Is this something that Israeli military will be using? If so why did they make the switch from Acog.

US foreign aid cuts and Israel working towards independence.

The market isn't exactly booming with quality compact prisms so I'm glad they're making it and the IDF will put it through it's paces.

I agree there is a lack of quality low power prism sights. The more competition the better it is for everyone. This is one of the more promising candidates.

We are expecting a small release in the US market in late fall. Remember, all this can change depending on government contracts, etc. MSRP is being worked out now with costs being considered. It will be as affordable as possible, but keep in mind that it will not be a cheap optic - it will be priced according to its quality, so don't expect low-end-type pricing. It is made in Israel.

In answer to the last question, eye relief is better; there are some other small advantages; the reticles are designed for mounting on a flat-top upper, not a carry handle; but most importantly, the X4 is designed to work directly with existing Meprolight compact thermal optics.

I will post more complete info soon.

I know I shouldn't even ask, but what about the Mepro M5? Same timeline?

We've been waiting like two years for that one, and I'd like it for my shiny-new Tavor.

I do not expect it to be cheap. I am looking forward to seeing it released.

We just put the M5 in our new winter catalog. I have an approximate date for the X4, will let you know when that date is narrowed down.

Any information on reticles for the 4X? I've got a 556R that is begging for a magnified optic!

The first reticles for the US market are very well designed 5.56 and .308 reticles.
