I did some shopping around for my build, and decided to go with some Troys. Mainly because they had the dioptics in FDE. When I received them, they sat to the right on my rifle. I tried them on a couple other rifles, and they sat pretty far to the right on all rifles. I did some online research, and found that Troy has had this issue before. I provided them with pictures, and they told me to send them in for repair or replacement. Ok, so I finally get some time off work to get to UPS so that I can return them. Took about a week for them to receive. A few days later, I get a reply saying that there is nothing wrong with them. I think to myself...well then why would they tell me to send them in after seeing the images that I provided? I told them that I am not comfy with that pair, as they clearly sit to the right on all rifles, and it wasnt just me being anal retentive. They said that they are within Troy's spec, and that they are sending them back. I say to myself "great, Troys "spec" is horrible. So I will try to just slam the rear sight all the way over and hope for the best when sighting them in, or I will sell them as is. I lost interest in Troy products at that point.
After over a week of waiting, I finally received the sights back from Troy. Yet...they are not my sights. Well, the front sight is the same, but it isnt the one I sent them based on the lot number. And the rear sight is a standard m4 sight, not the dioptic sight that I sent them. Ok, wonderful, a mistake was made. Now I will have to contact Troy, do this whole thing over again. Waste MY time and gas money to get to UPS during work hours, so I will have to find time off work or do it on a day off, I will have to print out more paperwork for the return. Most of all, I will not be able to complete the build that I have been waiting forever to finish, just because of the Troy sights. So maybe another week or week and a half to get these sights to Troy, another week to week and a half to get some back to me. I really had better cross my fingers on this one.
I am wondering though...
So if I got somebody elses sights, were these the ones that were deemed "good to go"? If so, where are my sights? Did some poor dude get mine by mistake, and now has some crooked sights? I feel worse for that guy.
I Obviously contacted Troy regarding this great screw up. I will let everybody know how this is handled.
I would like to thank Troy for either letting defective sights out of the factory, or having absolutely horrible standards for what is acceptable. I would also like to thank whoever does the returns...and all that, for maybe checking his facebook, while eating his lunch, while grabbing somebodies sights to mail to me.
I wanted to share my experience with members because I do base a good number of my purchases on things I read in these very forums/threads, and I appreciate you guys and girls sharing and helping people like me.
