Hello everyone, I recently received my new Daniel Defense M4A1 Milspec+ rifle toward the end of January 2016. I got a new sling I was trying the sling out on the M4A1 (completely unloaded by the way) when the M4A1 rubbed along my wooden bed frame and rubbed the Cerakote off with ease down to what looks like the bare aluminum. I figured that the Milspect+ Brown Cerakote would be more durable. Therefore, I could justify the cost of the Cerakoted M4 compared to the type III anodizing.
I know this thing is going to get beat up and scars are cool, trust me I would like actually to use this thing and make some of my own in the process. I am more interested in the Cerakote application process that DD takes. I have heard that Cerakote is supposed to be durable but my M4A1 only has 100 rounds through it and it's showing internal wear and now this new bare aluminum scratch. I am interested in what application process Daniel Defense takes, such as baking the Cerakote on or not. This is somewhat ridiculous that Daniel Defense would charge an extra $160 dollars for an inferior product to customers that demand Lighter Stronger and Better firearms?
Internally you can see the Cerakote wear showing the black underneath, however on the exterior there doesn't appear to be any black showing through just bare the aluminum??
Keep in mind that I only have put 100 rounds through the M4 so far, should I be experiencing this much internal and external wear on this New Factory Cerakoted Brown Daniel Defense M4A1?
Cheers
