The lightweight barrels are solid in my opinion. I have a V5LW that I did a similar thing with. I put a SSA trigger in it and have a 2.5-10x optic on it and have shot steel at 400yrds without much difficulty. I don't try to shoot tight groups on paper often, but I have shot sub moa groups at 100yrds. You get some fliers with bulk ammo.
I haven't used the tube rail that is on the V7, but have heard mixed things about it. If you are doing any type of sustained fire it supposedly gets hot really fast. But there are also some people who say this is bs and they run it hard with no issues. I have no personal experience in this so I can't pick a side.
I think that if you like how the rifle feels, it will serve your purpose well. Take comfort in the fact that if you do have any issues with the rifle DD has some of the best customer service that I have had interaction with.
--side note-- I'd also drop in a nice 2 stage trigger if you are really wanting to achieve the SPR-ish type build (I'm partial to Geissele). Take a look in this thread. The
Recce rifles are generally 16" marksman rifles. There are a lot of nice rifles in there that can do some serious shooting.
