I ordered a custom rifle 12/28
16" 5.56mm Lightweight Mid-length CHF Barrel - w/LPGB Omega X Rail 12.0 Daniel Defense Superior Suppression Device Assy, 1/2-28 ConVert Grip CC charged 12/29 I called two times (after over 3weeks, as they told me 10-14 days when I ordered) and they told me it was completely built and waiting to be shipped. I called again today they transferred me to Matt and he told me the chrome BCG was not in stock. Pretty upset I had to call them repeatedly, never got an email or call from them, and they kept telling me it was just waiting to ship. I completely understand how crazy everything is, but don't like bs answers either. Was told it would ship in 2-4 days. Hopefully I get it before March. |

I had a near identical build with CC charged 12/29 too. When I saw someone get a custom rifle they ordered 1/2 before I had mine...i did some digging. Thats when I got incontact with someone there who said the mid length gov't 16" barrels were 2-3 weeks backorder. Although parts were "allocated at time of order", their website let in too many orders and the statement became untrue. Due to rapidly changing local laws, i was fearing i wouldnt be able to receive it, and said I needed it by the end of the week (this was 1/15). My only option to keep the midlength system was to swtich to a LW barrel which i didnt want, or go to a carbine system and get a 16" govt barrel on it. So I went with the carbine system and the 16" govt, and received it the monday the week after. I however was a little annoyed no one said anything from DD and I had to call to figure out this information, which was a slip on their part. I am extremely grateful I received mine, but was still a little annoyed. |

Hey this is happening to me too! 16" 5.56mm Mid-length CHF Barrel - w/LPGB Complete Bolt Carrier Group, Chrome Plated(5.56mm) Omega X Rail 12.0 Vertical Foregrip, Black last week i was told all is fine and my rilfe would ship this week. But this week (monday) i was told both my barrel and BCG are back ordered. So i switched to the Lightweight mid 16 and the non chrome BCG. Should ship this week and then i get to blame FedEx for delays and the local shops for not having ammo. |

Wow...can't believe this. Thought I was the only one. Can't believe so many others have received their custom builds ordered after the 1st already and we got shafted.

I understand the crazy market right now and I cant say enough about how well Daniel Defense prepared for something like this, and I think they have made wise decisions on how they allocate and control the orders. One thing they really have disappointed me with, is that they lied to their customers who have put in orders as early as December 2012 and paid for their purchases based off of the two week turnaround. Im not even upset about waiting longer than the two weeks for my order because I understand the circumstances and build quality, but when you send out an email to those people (me included) that "The parts and components that you ordered were in stock at the time you placed you order and were immediately allocated to fill you specific order" and not post anything or call its customers who ordered those parts stating that they had made a mistake and that email was in fact not true. Yes, im probably overreacting to the situation but I wish they could be truthful to the customers and let them know what is going on...
*END RANT* waiting patiently.... |

But due to external circumstances I am not saying I accept the error they made on their part about allocation, but understand the situation. Just happy to have received mine, not exactly as I wanted, but extremely close and still an amazing product. |

And now when I'm not working and have time to call them about my order, they have apparently changed their business hours to 10am to 3pm?? Is that because nothing is in stock so there is nothing to do in the factory now?? I really wish they took the time to post an update / email / Facebook status of what is going on and what they are doing for their customers. I feel left in the dark and my wallet is $1700 lighter...

I placed a phone order for a V5 on the December 26th with a build week of Jan 21st. After a few calls last week and no rep could give me a status of what was going on. Got through today and was told the V5 was oversold and they have moved me to the April 15th build. So after 6 weeks or waiting I'm at the back of the line. I'm not to happy about it, but what can you do when you want a DD rifle.

Got a surprisingly nice update today - Called them to ask about a status update today, as usual very friendly on the phone, this time they told me straight up, the computer overestimated our stock on 16" midlength govt. profile barrels, so that is what is holding your order back. He then told me that it could be up to 8 WEEKS (this was on Feburary 4th, 2013) until they would be able to fill my original custom build (ordered on 1/1/13) , but that he had an associate who was making calls to the individuals who's items were back-ordered, giving them alternatives to ship out faster, and that he put my info on a post it and put it in his priority, and told me he would call in 30 minutes or so to discuss other options. Around 30 minutes later I get a call from an extremely professional, and nice associate who changed my order to a carbine length 16" M4 profile barrel, and told me it should ship out within the week and was apologetic and seemed very happy to change my order and get it worked on as soon as he can. They really do have top notch customer service at Daniel Defense and just had a hard time overcoming such a high surge of buying. I cannot wait to receive my quality rifle and I appreciate the updates and fast changes to my order for my satisfaction. I would suggest to anybody who needs the rifle fast to call them to get it changed unless you would like to wait 8 weeks for the barrels to come in.

I too am getting kind of annoyed. I placed my order on 12/18 with CC charged on 12/19. It was just an upper, not a complete rifle. |
You've got to call them. I'd still be waiting for my rifle if i didn't call them and make compromises.
Be prepared to wait on hold FOREVER though. |
Some of us don't want to make compromises on our order... Especially when spending a lot of money, up to $2K (or more). The consequence, of course, is that somebody like me has to wait. Maybe for many weeks, maybe even months... Patience is a virtue, not all people have it within them. To each his own.
You said 12/18?? I ordered mine 12/28 and am way beyond kinda annoyed.
Patience huh...An owned rifle can always be customized. An unowned banned rifle on the other hand isn't sh*t.

Order placed: 1/1
CC Charged: 1/2 Email saying everything was in stock: 1/7 **Called once a week asking if everything was OK and in stock after email above and was told it was all good, just taking time** DD left a message saying 2 items were back ordered (chrome BCG and 12.0 MFR) and if I wanted my rifle anytime soon I'd need to change those: 2/4 Finally able to reach the CSR doing the custom rifle changes: 2/6 Expected ship date with changes: 2/13 In the end I dropped the chrome BCG for the standard DD BCG. I wasn't aware the chrome BCG was an AR-15 style piece where the standard BCG is an M-16 style carrier. Knowing that I'm happy I changed. I also changed my MFR 12.0 rail for the AR-15 Lite 12.0 Rifle rail. DD made the switch at no charge which was nice. In the end I'll be happier with this new config compared to the original. Thumb up to DD offering those substitutions at no cost. When it comes in I'll take a few pics. |

I can't call, even if I sneak away at work to call fro the bathroom no way can I stay on hold for 45 min...I'm lucky to get in a 5 min phone call once a month at work..... |

Called DD today just to follow up on my order...
ordered 1/1/13 charged 1/2/13 pending 1/7/13 called every once and a while to check on it called on 2/4/13 and changed my order so it could ship sooner called today (2/8/13 - surprisingly only on hold for about 2 minutes) and it shipped today!!! not exactly the time frame i was expecting but ill just be happy when it is in my possession so the government cant keep me from having these "DANGEROUS KILLING MACHINES 100 DRUM MILITARY STYLE ASSAULT GUN CLIPS!" I wish you all the best in changing and receiving your orders and I feel your pain if you ordered farther back than i did and its still not shipped... |

My brother ordered one 1/22 on the custom website and it is scheduled to arrive 2/12
A firend of mine custom ordered
1/11/2013 Shipped 2/8/2013 Set of 14.5's with 12Lite Rail. |
Mine ended up taking 3 days over a month, or exactly one month from when they charged my credit card, to arrive at my FFL. The gun is great tho and worth the wait.
Ordered my DDM4 on 1/3.
CC charged and received email concerning FFL on 1/4. On 2/7, Matt with DD called me and told me that they were having to call around 400 people because of over commitments with some parts. We discussed and decided to change out a backordered part that was going to be another 4-5 weeks. Changed part and now good to go. Got shipping notice 2/8. Delivery date is 2/12. |
Does anybody know if they are still taking orders for complete M4's?
12/18 Ordered
12/19 CC Charged 12/21 Got a rather puzzling email saying "Your order #<number> has been Pending" 2/11 Called DD and after ~7 minutes on hold, guy looked up my order and said it had been put on the truck for shipment today. Seems kind of odd, but we'll see if I get a tracking number. |
Ordered 1/4/2013
Processed 1/7/2013 2/11/2012 got a voicemail that part is out of stock due to inventory system problems. Called this morning, upgrading the $255 MFR to $335 OmegaX rail, they are covering the cost difference. Estimated ship date: 2/19 An inventory issue when there is a national run on these isn't something I can hold against them. They were taking orders long after everyone else was either out of stock or dramatically raising their prices, and when they realized the issue they resolved the issue to the best of their abilities (ie with the stock they actually have). I'm happy - or at least I will be next week when it arrives |
Not an upper, but just ordered a barrel Feb. 1st. It came yesterday... I never got a notice that it shipped or a tracking number, but was happy to find that it came very quickly. It took 6 business days to my door.
Got to handle my rifle today, and I'm very excited to pick it up tomorrow (stupid Illinois 24 hour wait times). Just updating this with my final timeframe.
Ordered custom build on 1/1/13 , after calls to change my order because of out of stock parts I now have my rifle 2/13/13... In this current political environment and looking at other companies like stag arms not even accepting orders or 8 month build times, with the quality of Daniel Defense you can't complain about less than 2 months even if mistakes were made in the ordering and stock departments. |
