I posted this over in the ammunition forum as I bet this has infinitely more chance of being an ammo issue than a DD issue but thought you guys like might know.
Daniel Defense M4 V2. Attempted to run 9 magazines of Wolf WPA 55 grain Polyformance though it today. Consistent, and I mean 90% of the magazine here, FTF. 3 instances I had the good fortune of getting 2-5 rounds to feed properly. Every other round my rifle was a bolt action. Made it though approximately 120 rounds before giving up. I attempted to down load every mag from 30 to 29, but obviously that didn't work as I was still FTFing on the last few rounds of every magazine. Some mags were brand new, some where previously used. Attempted with randomly selected mags in front of me. Should have asked the guy next to me to borrow one of his USGI mags but I was already getting pretty aggravated and ready to move on to pistols. FTFs came in two varieties. Either the round got jammed on the feed ramp (maybe 30% of the time) or they bolt simply slid over them in the magazine. Visible was a light scratch along the top of the failed round where the bolt slipped over the round. Attempted spraying some rem oil on feed ramps and bolt face. Didn't help. Removed bolt carrier group and gave it a cleaning. Didn't help. Cycling the charging handle or riding the bolt forward via the bolt catch never once failed to feed a round. I was using 30 round PMAGs, windowed and unwindowed. They were not EMAGs. The was only the second time to the range with this rifle. Previous trip I ran 300 rounds of LC XM193 though it, PMAGs again. Had 1 FTE. I neglected to bring any of my LC XM193 today so I cannot guarantee something didn't go wrong with my rifle between the last time I went shooting and today Kind of at a loss here. Found an alright deal on 1k rounds and thought I'd give it a shot...and it seems I've learned a $250 lesson. I know lot of folks run WPA with no problems or few problems. I expected maybe 5 or so FTFs or FTEs but this was a dramatic failure. Yes, I do clean my rifle and while I'm not meticulous about the rifle certainly was not dirty when I took it out today. |

Sometimes that happens when gas ports are drilled properly.
How much lube do you put on your BCG? Coat the fucker, and give it another go. |

I have the exact same rifle and had the exact same problem when I was shooting Wolf ammo. I think the DD's just don't like the stuff. Since then I've been shooting Lake City ammo and haven't had a FTF or any malfunction really.

Next time I go out I will get it drip dropping wet. When I was out the other day I gave the bolt face, the feed ramps and the top two rounds in each mag a quick spritz of Remoil hoping to cure the problem. Nerp.

OP, I'm sorry that you are having problems with your v2. All Daniel Defense rifles 5.56 carbines have a true 5.56 chamber and are function tested with 5.56 ammunition. All rifles undergo a 10 round function test to ensure proper cycling, ejection, and bolt hold open. Per our owners manual, we only recomment the use of factory loaded brass cased ammunition. Most steel cased ammo is problematic and causes premature wear to the AR Platform. If you feel that the problem is with the rifle itself, we encourage you to contact our customer service department for immediate assistance. We are more than happy to arrange for the return/repair of your rifle.

Thanks for the reply Marler.
I bought rifle, took it to the range a few days later and promptly lost my owners manual. Didn't figure I'd need it particularly badly as I am relatively familiar with the platform. I did actually go looking at the DD website to see if there was any mention of ammo specifically regarding the warranty (as I know some manufacturers do not honor the warranty when steel cased ammo is used) and saw no mention. I couldn't find a downloadable version of the manual on ya'll website but it's entirely possible I missed it, is a software version available? I'll take the rifle to the range again soon and see if it still runs properly on brass. I'm sure it does. |

Took the rifle out again today. Began shooting with LC XM193. Two magazines fed reliably. Switched to the WPA stuff. Unreliable feeding through two magazines, even after getting the entire BCG and breech drip dropping wet with remoil. Switched back to LC XM193 without cleaning the rifle, fed fine.
Guess my rifle just doesn't like underpowered ammo. |

WPA is junk. Widely considered so. Wolf military classic is better. Brown Bear runs reliably for me.

Lube the BCG properly and drop in a carbine buffer for reliable function with the underpowered Russian crap. The carbine buffer is the key for the Wolf/Brown Bear/Tula, etc... Or buck up and pay for real 5.56 ammunition.
