I am researching my next upper purchase and want it to be light weight. According the Daniel Defense web site, this upper weighs in at under four pounds. Here is a link to the upper in question: DD M4 URG, V7 Lightweight Upper Link

Here is a picture of the upper:

Does anyone have any experiance with this product? I can find very little in my ARFCOM searchs. I have cross posted this in the AR15 Discussion section as well.

Thanks in advance,
Gary

A buddy bought the complete rifle with that upper a couple of weeks ago, and we immediately took it out and ran it hard.

Very nice, light, easy shooting gun. He put an Aimpoint M4S on it, and even with the large optic the rifle was super light and handy. Not even a comparison weight wise to my 6920 with Larue rail and Aimpoint Micro.

I'd highly recommend it. He paid $1249 for his complete rifle, which I thought was quite a good deal for the quality and features. The same shop had the complete upper with BCG and CH but no iron sights for $750, which I found tempting.

Picked up the complete V7 rifle in February and have been running it pretty good. Very light weight, fast on target and easy to handle compared to Colts and some other AR platforms. The only thing I changed was the flash suppressor to a Smith Vortex. I was looking at something in 308 but, I might have to stick with the V7 and pick up an upper in 6.8 due to the weight and accuracy of the DD upper. Very impressed with it so far. The uppers are a little hard to find right now here in SoCal.

In my search for light weight uppers, this unit appears to be the lightest around. Even lighter than those with 14.5" barrels and pinned muzzle devices.
