I'm waiting on the Crux Nemesis 30 for my MK18. I like it so far. I didn't have unrealistic expectations after doing some research on the various options. It's not the quietest, but it's really pleasant to shoot in that there isn't that much gas to the face. I find that it balances pretty well on the mk18 too. I've only had personal experience with AAC cans prior to this, and they might be a little quieter, but I'm really happy with the purchase. I love the way it looks on the Mk18 too. Now I just need to spray paint the upper and try to sneak it past the guys in the CQBR clone thread. ETA Pic Thread |

Especially when it comes to banging steel beyond 200 yards. The furthest I've shot it was 500 and it was a piece of cake. I just need to find a longer range! |

Details please, looks great!! Have wanted to do this for years, but just don't have the balls to do it. Thanks man! I removed the URG and then masked off everything except the upper itself and then used Rust-Oleum camo paints and the ol' laundry bag (actually it was labeled as "lingerie") from Walmart for the pattern. To be honest, I ended up stripping it the very next day using Citristrip (also from Walmart). I just wasn't in love with it and decided I liked the OEM black best. Citristrip worked awesome, but it helped to have a pretty firm nylon bristled brush, an old soft bristled toothbrush and lots of Q-tips to really get every last fleck of paint off. In the end you could see a noticeable difference between the black of the upper and the untouched lower. The upper had sort of a washed out appearance after it went through the paint and stripping process. I did a few coats of CLP and worked it into the finish and it seems nearly as good as new now. In hindsight, I regret painting it and wouldn't ever do this again LOL. Sorry - I'm probably the wrong guy to ask. |
