Applicable "codes" for 223 barrels:
Old Codes: Three characters side by side over the chamber. First Character: N or W...N for NATO chamber or W for Wylde Second Character: 8 or 9...8 for 1:8 twist and 9 for 1:9 twist. Third Character: A, S, or C...A for moly (chrome -moly Alloy), S for Stainless, and C for Chrome-lined alloy. Current Codes: The actual base part number from our parts system/catalog, located over the chamber. These are the most common. Unless indicated otherwise, all stainless barrels are 1:8 twist and all moly barrels (chrome-lined or not)are 1:9. All 16" moly barrels have a NATO chamber, while the 20" moly and all stainless barrels have a Wylde chamber. 200 Moly CAR 200CL Chrome-lined CAR 202 Moly R4 204 Chrome-lined R4 205 Chrome-lined light-weight R4, 1:7 206 Stainless CAR-currently discontinued 208 16" Stainless varmint 209 Moly 7" Pistol; 210 Moly Mid 212 Chrome-lined Mid 213 Moly light-weight Mid-currently discontinued 213CL Chrome-lined light-weight Mid 215 Stainless Mid 218 18" Stainless varmint 219 Chrome-lined light-weight R4, 1:9 220 Moly Std (rifle) 221 Chrome-lined Std (rifle) 222 Stainless NM(rifle) 223 Stainless NM (rifle), unthreaded 225 Moly 10.5" 225CL Chrome-lined 10.5" 226 20" Stainless varmint 228 24" Stainless varmint (1:8) 229 24" Stainless varmint (1:12) 232 Moly light-weight CAR 232CL Chrome-lined light-weight CAR YOU MAY SEE SOME MARKINGS AFTER THE NUMBERS...THE S IS FOR STAINLESS AND THE C IS FOR CHROME-LINED...PRIMARILY TO HELP PEOPLE BOTH IN-HOUSE AND OUT TO KNOW AT A GLANCE WITHOUT HAVING TO REFER TO A CATALOG. If you have a strong light you may be able to shine it in and see it. My Mid length number (212) is 1/2" in front of the delta ring and under the gas tube.

Will other calibered barrels be sold and listed here? I am thinking of the 458socom and 6.8SPC or 6.5grendel.

No 6.8s or 458s initially. No plan whatsoever for Grendels.

I bought an upper and lower at a gunshow from an proclaimed RRA dealer. The barrel has 5.56 Nato 1-9 on the top of the barrel near the flash supressor. It has no other markings anywhre on it of any kind. The only mark on the upper at all is a keyhole shaped mark to the left of the ejection port. Did I get scammed? The barrel is chrome lined and looks to be milspec. The lower is marked with the RRA emblem and serial number. What gives? That barrel is an R4 type with heavy tip and grenade/bayonet lug.

Not an RRA barrel, and unless it is a very old upper receiver (we've been laser engraving RRA on unbuilt uppers and the RRA logo on complete upper halves and rifles) for about three years) it isn't one of ours, either. If you want to e-mail me withthe serial number, I can tell you how the lower left the factory.

I may be the reason why you guys are marking you uppers. About 3 years ago or so just as the AWB expired I ordered an upper from a Local florida dealer, He said it was rock river. I looked it over and it did not seem to match the color of my known RR lower. So I called RR and had a few converstions with people at RR and after letting them know that people were selling fake RR uppers. The woman I told this to at the time was shocked the some one was doing that. I was told after my third converstion the you were going to look into marking your uppers so that people would know they were getting RR.
That being said my RR upper has no markings but it is real because it was bought direct. Tim |

The differentiated markings (complete upper half/rifle upper half versus stripped uppers) has helped to weed out some of the home/shop-builders who were trying to pass their builds off as factory rifles. We saw it in more than one case, which helped prompt the engraving as a means of maintaining our product's reputation and value.

On your Entry Tactical uppers, How can one tell the 1:7 chrome lightweight from the 1:9 chrome lightweight?

Looking for the 205 or 219 (see the first post in this thread) would be the easiest way.
If it's a complete rifle, I could also look it up by serial number and be able to see how it left the factory. Steve/RRA |

I bought this rifle at a gunshow today the barrel code is 200-D. What exactly does that mean?
It doesn't contain any literature explaining different features in the rifle either. The SN# is CM141073 |

Nick,
That's just an AR0200 (200) with an inspection marking. That serial number left here as a CAR A4 rifle...16" moly barrel, flat top upper, etc.... Steve/RRA |

212 C-C = 16" chrome lined, is it 5.56x45, .223 Rem, or .223 Wylde? Thanks.
