I have your 16" SS barrel and am very please with the fit and finish of it. I do have problems getting any type of good groups while shooting it. I have used both sonic and sub sonic ammo with the same results. I have even went so far as to re install the barrel to see if that helps. I have tried three different brands of ammo as well. Have you ran into any reports from other people? Do you have an ammo you would recommend? I am shooting at 100 yards and am all over the paper. I have another one of your 223 Wylde barrels in another AR and it is one of my favorite rifles to shoot.

I've not seen a lot of posts titled "the accuracy of my 300Blackout is amazing". Its really not built for that in my mind. Suppressed, short range, man sized targets in an urban environment? works great. 150+? go with a 308 or bigger.

What I found was that the 300AAC requires quality ammo, especially for subs. I was having a LOT of vertical when I started- 5" to 6" at 100 with 220gr SMK's. Windage was about 2", but most in a 1" wide swath. Found that my reloading had to get a lot better - a 30 FPS difference for a bullet averaging 3000 FPS isn't mich of a change, but a 30fps variance at 1000fps is significant. I was probably getting more like 50fps+ in variation. If you want it to be accurate, you have to earn it- -weighing and sorting everything- -cases, bullets, etc. Uniforming everthing- -primer pockets, flashhole and necks. Searching for powders. Settled on AA1680. Its done a lot for the verticle, now its a 2" gun at 100. I had 2 barrels made a and chambered at the same time - both 16-1/2" barrels - -an AR and a Savage 10 bolt. The savage bolt outshoots the AR hands down - it don't have to work the bolt, so its more consistent. Its scary accurate with 110 gr sierra's.

All that being said, you could still have issues with the barrel- -Bad crown, bulge/bad spot in the barrel, etc. Is the twist 1:8 or quicker?

It is a 1-8 twist. Having tried all the different ammo I have I would think I could get a consistent 4" group from something. I get everything set up and think I have it zeroed, then I start shooting and get a 10" spread.

Diesel,
Of course I have to ask the normal questions? Have you checked the sights( I assume telescope) and mounts? Are you getting satisfactory groups with other rifles? As the other poster mentioned, sub sonic loads can be finicky....what supersonic loads have you tried? I have note had very good groups from the Remington UMC loads, but I have shot some outstanding sub MOA groups with Atlanta Arms 125 gr ballistic tips, and Barnes Vortex 110 gr TTSX. Tell me more about the ammo and groups, and let's see if we can help!

Starting with the scope it is a Bushnell Banner 1-4x 32mm Rifle scope that I used on another rifle prior and had no complications with. I am using a RRA one piece scope mount. I have attached a photo of a couple of the different types of ammo I have used. I have also tried PNW 220 SMK which is not pictured. On my first outing I was sighting in the rifle at 75 yards. I would get 7"-8" groups with subsonic loads and have 5 or 6 flyers that went out to 12". Then with sonic loads I was hard pressed to get groups under 12" for 20 round mags. It seems like I am just not getting any kind of consistency. I tried a couple magazines at 100 yards and things open up even more. Just a little background I me I am a FFL holder and have built over a dozen AR's and have covered many calibers. I have done 9mm,5.56,308,458,6.5G,762x39 and of course the 300 now. I am just mentioning this to let you know I am not some garage AR builder. I do feel like the ammo is just not made with very strict guide lines. I am thinking it is the ammo because I have had similar results to this using cheap Russian ammo in my other AR's. Not to mention, I have another Wilson wylde barrel that I couldn't be happier with. Is it possible that I got a bad barrel or do I need to search for a better ammo?

Diesel,
We are not seeing any accuracy issues with our 300Blk barrels, so other than ammo or build problems. As you know, there are so many issues that can effect accuracy, even with well made componets. If you are still having problems, we will be glad to take a look at the barrel. if you would like to send it in, shoot me a PM, and we can discuss the process.

I have a AR stoner barrel from midway usa that shoots excellent groups. The ammo
my friend loaded is 300 aac blackout brass, 110 grain hornady vmax
Bullet and 20 grains of H110. It shoots excellent groups with this load.
