Backstory- I have wanted to build my first AR for a long time now. Watched all sorts of videos, read all sorts of posts here, created a list of what I would like buy, and a list of what I would be ok buying. Set some money aside for when the items I really wanted might have a killer deal and waited. 10+ months of watching the web.
Finally, October came around and Brownell's has a deal and I just don't want to wait any longer, I am going to build my first AR. October 30, 2014, I order 2 lowers, so that I can build one that is entry, and slowly build my dream.
Additionally, I take advantage of the Black Friday deals and order a lower kit and an upper kit. Along with the parts I know that I need the tools, so I add those to the order. I am so happy, I have my first AR ordered.
I rush out set up the FFL info and verify lowers are being shipped. Never thinking the the upper kit is where I would have the issues.
After a few days and not receiving a shipping notice for the upper I get concerned and start calling Customer Service. They were initially helpful in letting me know that they just moved a warehouse and everything was messed up. They took to many orders for the upper kit and some of the items are now on backorder. Ok, I buy it. A week goes by, I call again. Customer Service confirms the items are still backordered. I ask for a detail list of parts in the kit. They send the list. I accept this as truth.
Now it is almost 5 months later and I keep checking all the parts. Some have come in stock and out of stock, I send an email to CS and get a short and not helpful reply. I respond asking for more details on parts status, and get another almost shorter email reply.
