nice.
I'd like an option for "in-stock" parts only |

the in stock option would be nice... but I'm sure you would almost never be able to "build" a rifle given the current stock situations.
I've found through playing around with it that adding certain accessories (vert grip, gas block sight) will remove my barrel (18") from the gun. Not sure why the bug is there, but it's there for me... OS X 10.5.5 running Safari 3.1.2 |

Hi Forrestcook,
The builder is designed to try to prevent any incompatibilities that may exist between various parts. So, for example if you had an 18 barrel that had an integrated front sight or crowned muzzle, you couldn’t add a flash hider to it. It’s not perfect, but we try to avoid any situations that may require special gunsmithing. Another good example is if you are using a complete lower, you couldn’t add a pistol grip or customized accessory to it. It will just replace the lower. We know that physically, you can do those things fairly easily, but it makes it more challenging to be user-friendly on the builder. We’re working on a way so that it warns you of incompatibilities instead of just replacing the item. Currently that works when you try adding the wrong size of handguard to a barrel. Thank you so much for the feedback. There are billions of scenarios out there we try duplicating. If you run across anything you feel could be a mistake, please send us the stock number or product titles you are using so we can fix it. Brownells |

Was playing around with it earlier and think it's pretty neat. One thing to consider is that, as the builder is limited to Brownell's stocked parts, alot of ARs can't be replicated. For example, I was building a middy but there were no middy barrels. Maybe some generic (i.e. not real mfg items) parts to cover a broader range.
Also, the optics (specifically Aimpoint T-1) defaults to an approx T4 rail position. Couldn't find a way to move it forward. Still a few bugs in aligning stocks and free floats. All-in-all, a pretty cool capability. |
