Anyone have a good write up on one of these scopes??? Im looking to get one but would like to hear a lil feedback first
|
|
I don't have one but I will tag along on your post. I have a question about the eye relief on this scope. It states 4". Is that like a Nikon that has a constant 4" at any magnification level? Or is it very touchy to focus in at higher magnification? I have an inexpensive (Osprey) 4-16x that is pretty easy to "blackout" at anything over 12x. Anybody have one that can review it or up to answering questions?

Anyone got any kind of wrote up on these things????? Wanna hear more about them and see someone else's experiences with these Ive seen a couple nicer higher end scopes out there Ive almost picked up but thought about giving PA chance first

Also interested. According to the EE thread on these, they're a pretty new offering, so I'm not surprised there isn't much out there yet. I'm interested in putting one on my LaRue DMR-16.

Awesome review... Thanks! That's easily the most info I've seen about that scope so far.
|
|
I'll second that review, and add a quick review myself.
I had it on my SCAR-16s for 6 months now, no issues at all, holds zero after hundreds of rounds, the glass is super clear, all adjustments are positive with a clear clicking sound. NOT a fan of the illumination, but hey its $159 scope, you can't ask for everything to be perfect. I would put this scope up against other brand that cost 2x or 3x as much. This scope in my opinion is the best scope money can buy in the $150- $200 price category. |

Sorry just to answer that question, the eye relief on my PA 4-16 is excellent, even at 16x it won't "BLACK OUT" on you with small head movements, Just to compare it to something, here is a example: At 16x the PA scope "black out" range is less than a BUSHNELL Elite 3200 at 10x. I own both scope so i compare both side by side. |

Ordered last Friday June 3, received on June 8. Fast shipping.
Mounted it on a Bushy to test out. Very clear at all powers. Easy to zero, adjustments right on the money. Tried the illumination, it was ok. Might be better on an overcast day. Is hot again, above 95* in SC. For 159.99 it is a very good buy. Also the PA AR15 scope mount is rock solid. Part number PABASICSM. This scope will find a new home on a new build. RJ |

I just received mine Saturday. Hefty and impressive looking. Had some difficulty figuring out the locking turrets. Turned out that you pull up/out on the turret to adjust. That's what I get for upgrading from super cheap to inexpensive. I hope to dial it in this week.

Marsh or any who have this scope; quick question...........What is the power the scope gets put on for use of the mildot......ie, any power because the scope is first focal plane or 10x power because of second focal plane for instance?
Thanks for your assistance. V/R Jerry "Outaw5" Perkins |

I just purchased a brand new Rem 700 SPS Tac today and I think this scope will do nicely since I am a beginner and broke. lol I have a couple of questions.
On the Rem 700 I can either mount a one piece pic rail or go with a two piece. The guy at the shop said I should go for a 20/10 split because this would give me more mil dot adjustemtn at longer ranges with the shorter 20" barrel. It made sense to me, but I am unsure whether to just get a one piece rail or two piece. My other question is what kind of 30mm rings do you guys recommend for this scope? Thanks Octavius, what kind of end caps are those and how much were they? |

That is enough extra elevation get you out to 1,000+ yards with most any scope and you know your rings are in alignment. Most low rings will be fine. The height of your rail will come into play. Here is a great post on figuring ring height. LINK |

It's a pretty popular rifle so I assume someone out there has a good setup on it already. Thanks again. |

Also, Can you list out the other stuff you have done to it? The stock looks really cool especially. |

Thanks Marsh!
I saw you have the Midwest Industries rail for the Rem 700 and it's a good price, but does that rail have the 20moa? That same rail is listed twice on your site with different part numbers so I'm hoping one of them is a 20moa. |

Curious how hard it is to get the 10 round box mag on the Rem700. Is it a kit or will the rifle simply accept a box mag? |

Anyone looking to get this scope - I would suggest getting the butler creek lens caps when you order. The original ones supplied with mine slide right off when I try to pop them open. The originals mostly worked in the house but were not up to the 100+ degrees outside at the range this week.

Had a chance to shoot this weekend. After getting things squared away at 50yds I moved down to the 100yd line. It was so freakin hot the glass was fogging up, but once I got everything zeroed in I was doing groups of a half inch, which was the best I was able to do. I might have done better if I had used better quality ammo, but I'm still toying around with things trying to get the grouping tightened up a little. I've seen guys getting groups less than a half in at 100yds so I guess I have some work to do. It was still fun just sighting everything in. Scope worked great.

I won one in the Team member Giveaway.
Now all I need is a rifle to put it on. |

I only have a little over 100rds through mine and only at 25m, but on a 25m/100m adjusted target and I was making one ragged hole that could be covered by a quarter. I love PA. I have it mounted in a PA Deluxe Scope Mount. I'm constantly recommending them to buddies and people on some AZ local forums I'm on. http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k348/un4gvn5150/SPR/IMG_4038.jpg http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k348/un4gvn5150/SPR/IMG_4040.jpg http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k348/un4gvn5150/SPR/IMG_4046.jpg That's a beautiful rifle man! |

I'm considering mounting this scope on a Ruger 10/22, using the scope base it came with. Which height rings are recommended?

So far, the 4-16 scope turned out more useful than the higher priced models. My ranges are short - 25-100m, and I can focus it fine at 50m at 16x which I can't do with most other optics.

Did anyone go with the standard AR mount for theirs? (The one that only has one screw to lock to the rail)
I just ordered mine and went with the cheapest mount as I plan to get a nice QD one sometime soon... but the more I think about it, I dunno how well it will hold up. Am I just over thinking it? |

The originals mostly worked in the house but were not up to the 100+ degrees outside at the range this week. Ditto, the caps suck! They would be perfect if they would stay on the scope but they're too loose and slide off all the time, I might try to "glue" them in place with a dab of gasket sealant or something. I have found the scope to be pleasantly clear. Things do get a bit fuzzier at 14x and above, but still decently clear glass. I will say that the eye relief gets very thin at 16X. Its still very usable, and I do not have experience with high zoom scopes so I dont think this is a fault of the PA scope. The illumination is very useful but as others have said I wish the lowest settings was dimmer. Even on "1" its a bit too bright for night use. On max brightness its visible even in daylight. The one thing i wish was a little better is that the resettable turrets need more "teeth", because when i try to reset my turrets it was impossible to get them right on "0" i had to go slightly to the side on each one. Its not terrible but you can tell that my turrets are not exactly on "0". The Deluxe mount is really nice, and the scope + deluxe mount feels very solid and well built, like a tank. After owning it for a few months I feel like its an OUTSTANDING value for the money and would/will buy another one. I think this scope walks all over most of the sub $200 scopes, and a bunch of the sub $300 ones. |

Does anyone happen to know if there are "Cat Tails" will fit the magnification ring on the eye peice of this scope?
Examples from LaRue can be seen here: http://www.laruetactical.com/rifle-scope-accessories Also, if anyone here has a Super Sniper scope from SWFA, can you please provide some feedback about how this scope compares to the Super Sniper line? Thanks Wes |

Thanks Wes The SS line is in a different category. $299 on the low end for fixed power. They have better glass and track very very well. Variable power SS start at $599 and go up from there. In that price range you would be looking at Bushnelll, Vortex, Nikon, Leupold, Burris.for comparison Marshall |

Thanks for the honest reply Marshal....Not that I would have expected anything less from you!
Some other posters were tossing around the Leupold name when refering to the quality so I was curious to know how it stacked up. What other existing products on the market would you say you feel the build quality and durability/repeatability would be equal too? Also, do you know of any cat tails that would work with this scope? Thanks Wes |

Anybody have a few hundred (or thousand) rounds through one of these yet? Any issues holding zero? Anyone ever do a box test?
How do they compare to a Muller APT, Millet TRS-1, Nikon buckmaster, or Vortex Viper? |
