A product reviewer recently tested an Elzetta ZFL-M60 Light and came up with some imaginative torture tests. One of the torture tests was an alcohol burn test whereby alcohol was pooled on the Acrylic Lens of the Light and lit on fire for 2-minutes!
The Elzetta ZFL-M60 survived the test but sustained some surface damage to its lens. This damage affected the beam pattern and reduced its "throw". At the conclusion of the testing, the Light was returned to us at the factory. We removed the Bezel and sanded the 1/2-inch thick lens of the Malkoff M60 LED Module for about 15 minutes (starting with 60-grit sandpaper and progressing to 600-grit). After sanding, the Light was reassembled and the beam was completely restored to factory specs. We hope to be able to share the write-up from the reviewer in the near future. Below are some photos of the test, damage, and restored lens. Alcohol Burn Test in Progress: Lens Damage from Burn: Sanded/Restored Lens: |
