I have to precursor this build with my last one. My last build (before this) was an Aero Precision M5e1 builder set build. That was a disaster (serious QC, and spec, issues with AP). My set had a both crooked and non level e1 handguard (they are pre drilled to mate with the lower, zero adjustment), the upper/lower was far too tight, and their mag catch depth specs are WAY off (they admit they use "their OWN" specs for that, instead of going with the industry standard "DPMS" specs that it calls for) resulting in sloppy mag fit and outright dropping IMI mags to the floor. Totally unacceptable (and not recommended by me).
Now back to the PA-10 G1 build:
This thing went together like a dream. All the parts mated up properly, fit excellent, and to proper spec (mostly DPMS). I opted for the G1 because I was going lightweight and the extra "beef" of the G2 was not desirable to me and I prefer the "standard" look of the G1 set.
So... here she is:
Specs: G1 upper/lower
Faxon 308 pencil 16" middy barrel
SLR Sentry 7 click adjustable gas block, pinned
Odin works 15.5" M-lok rail (DPMS "LOW" height, perfect match) which, exactly following install instructions, lined up dead nuts perfectly centered
SI King Comp
Toms Tactical nitride BCG
Raptor CH
PSA EPT trigger
Anderson mil spec 7075 RE with Guntec 308 shorty buffer/spring combo (note: this combo required a quarter behind the spring to properly 'time" the BCG between bolt catch and RE. W/o it, the BCG barely hits the RE upon force and goes too far past the bolt catch. You want the bolt face no more than about 1/8-3/16" behind the bolt catch at max travel. This prevents the BCG from gaining too much momentum on return and snapping the bolt catch with 308's, and you certainly don't want BCG/RE impact. The BCG should be "timed" between the two)
MFT Minimalist stock
K2 grip
This thing weights a scant 7.1 lbs "naked" (no mag/sights/optic) thanks to the pencil barrel, Odin Works rail, and MFT stock.
This is, by far, my favorite build yet. Thank you PSA for making an affordable, WELL MADE (and to spec!) receiver set (and put the M5e1 to shame)!
Anyway... just sharing the PA-10 love here, and maybe give ideas to others who may be considering a 308 build.
