It seems like PSA is in a bit of pickle with the 308 receivers. The Gen1 quickly received bad press mostly due to gassing, ejector, and extractor issues (nothing about the receivers), so they quickly distanced themselves by putting out a Gen2 (instead of riding it out and letting customers sort out the G1 issues). However, most seem to prefer the looks of the "standard looking" Gen1 (myself included). So now they have two distinct sets of customers who want different versions. I'm sure, for economics given the investment they've probably made into the G2, they'd prefer people just move to the G2, but that doesn't seem to be happening. So if they cut the G2 and go back to the G1, there will still be unhappy customers (who have the G2). The pickle is, now (to keep everyone happy), they need to run BOTH gens. They should have never moved on to the G2, since there was nothing wrong with the receivers. So now, either way they go, they'll have unhappy customers who want the other versions parts.
I'm curious, as to how they handle this, as well.
