I really want to go ahead and purchase an AR9, but I can't seem to find many reviews. I've done some searching but every review I have managed to find have been "initial reviews" and that sort of thing. Can anyone give me some insight on how their AR9 is shooting?

Mine is the colt pattern with a magwell block in a standard lower. I bought a kit and sold the barrel. Got a 4" barrel from ADCO threaded in 1/2x28 to fit my suppressors. (9mm AR barrels are 1/2x36) Just keep the bolt lubed. I have a YHM 9mm buffer. After a few initial hiccups, after keeping it lubed I have had no issues after thousands of rounds. All suppressed. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f37/lexican51/86F6ECEA-FF01-405F-8FA5-203D6D9E60BC_zpsuavxcrmg.jpg I've since changed the handguard and suppressor to a different one. Sadly I don't shoot my AR9 much anymore since I just got an MPX for Christmas. View Quote Great to hear. I ended up buying the Glock lower w/ 40 mags, but I wanted to wait on the upper until a pistol length came available. I think I'm just going to buy the 16" they have on sale now and submit my paperwork and buy a 10.5" barrel later. |

View Quote I got one of their Colt mag lowers. It's junk and their customer service was no use. On the other hand I have a 9mm Glock lower I got from Joe Bob Outfitters. I had a slight problem w/ it and when I sent an email to them with a question I got a call back within 10 min or so. On a weekend at 10PM. The difference between the two is huge. |

Any specific problem with the PSA lower? "It's junk" isn't very descriptive View Quote Upper won't go on w/ the bolt forward. You can get either pin in, but the other one doesn't QUITE make it w/o excessive force. If you put the front pin in, you can pull the bolt back and put the rear pin in, then if you let the bolt go forward it drags hard on something at the very front of the lower. At that point you can shotgun it and get the bolt loose, but it's jammed hard until you do. I sent them feedback asking a question on it and they were quite firm that they would give me ZERO help or advice other than send the whole thing in to them. I tossed it up on a shelf and it pisses me off every time I see it. Occasionally I take it down and work with it a bit. From what I can tell it appears the problem is the feed ramp (I originally thought it might be the ejector, and it still could be) hitting on the bolt, but the problem is it does it on two functional uppers. One has a combo bolt for either Glock or Colt lowers while the other has a Colt style bolt in it. I'm sure it's fixable, but their complete and utter lack of any usable tech support makes it junk IMO. Not much I can do if I end up diagnosing it and need a part when they won't help. I would not buy ANYTHING from them that isn't a drop in part and easily replaceable. It's probably best to only buy things from them that have a warranty from someone else due to their crappy support. They blew me off twice when they could have spent a few minutes to have a happy customer. |

So they offered to take it back to look at, diagnose, and try and fix and you're accusing them of crappy support? Did I miss something? Why don't you send it back? |

View Quote Yes I'm saying they have crappy support. They would not give me any info or advice on fixing it w/o sending it in. It's not that they worked with me at all and then said send it in. Their automatic response was we will do nothing for you without sending in the whole gun and we're not responsible if you take it to someone. That's not going to happen and their emails pissed me off. I'm not going to the trouble and expense to ship an AR pistol to them and the hassle of getting it back. Unless I'm missing something it would be cheaper to just buy another one from another vendor than to ship that one to them next day air or pay a dealer to send it USPS. Regardless my first response to their emails was a comment of "Asshole!" when I read their reply. |

I was having problems with my AR9 and they sent me a shipping label. From the time I shipped to the time I got it back was a total of 10 days. Very pleased with the Company. I wish the best for you.

PSA sent me a return label for my whole AR-9 (billet matte Glock lower w/ 16" upper) when I was having FTF/FTE issues. Albeit mine wasn't a pistol, and I'm pretty sure they'd have to make that a next day label with it being a pistol, but that's irrelevant. The email fella I contacted said if they had to replace my lower, it would have to go through the FFL again, but they would credit my new transfer fee. This was not the case with my repair (the email fella said my barrel assembly was replaced) The repair took a bit longer than I wanted (something like twenty working days from the day I shipped to the day I got it back) and it's never quick getting an email back (all of my emails came from the same fella), but now I have a reliable AR-9. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but I think if you just let them take it back, you wouldn't be so angry. I get that you want to do the work yourself, and maybe that's where we differ. Let their people handle it for you. |

Good job, PSA! |

Also, how do the AR9's like steel cased ammo? View Quote Initially my AR9 had issues and got sent back to PSA. They fixed it and sent it back in about a week. Since then, I've had about 2000 rounds of steel cased tulammo through mine without a hiccup. Using Glock, ETS, and Magpul magazines. |

That's awesome to hear and relieves some of my worries. If I can't shoot steel through it then it's worthless to me.

View Quote They may prefer to not TELL you to mess with too many parts from a liability stand point. If I were a manufacturer I would be hesitant to tell a consumer to mess with anything on a firearm. Also, any time a manufacturer tells you to send it back, ASK for a return label. I get that you would be upset with the issues you've had with the firearm, I just don't think it's fair for you to say their customer service was bad when they've offered to take it back and work on it for you. |

Thanks for the responses.
There are a couple of reasons we prefer to do the work. 1. The source of the problem is not always the obvious. 9mms are finicky creatures. With the upper and lower we can make sure both are working together properly. 2. Preserving your warranty. If we break it, we fix it. If you break it, you own it. 3. The liability. |

I got the 9mm Glock lower, AR parts kit, and 7.5" 9mm upper all from PSA.
Ran great for 100 rounds. Extractor broke. PSA sent a shipping label and had it back in my hands in 10 days. They replaced the bolt and the barrel. Over 300 trouble free rounds so far. That's not many, but you couldn't ask for better CS in my opinion. The shipping label would probably cost me at least $30-50 and a 10 day turnaround for firearm warranty work is almost unheard of. They answered all of my Instant Messages on here. Would the KAK carbine spring be OK? (Yes), did I need spacers? (No), steel cased ammo OK? (Yes), etc. Overall, I'm very pleased with my PSA Glock AR pistol. |

Will the 9mm uppers work with a standard AR lower with mag block or do I need a PSA specific lower?

I assembled PSA's 9mm rifle kit on a standard Anderson lower with the mag well block. The only "change" I made was to have the bolt carrier ramped. It has run without fail through close to 1000 rounds of mostly Winchester White box and and Fiocchi 115 GR FMJ. It is fun to shoot and I'm thinking about trying PCC at some local USPSA matches with it. View Quote Excellent. Thank you! |

Got my shipping notification for my lower and 40 mags this afternoon. I'll pick up an upper at the end of the month. Hopefully I'll have a range report the first couple weeks of February.

Just picked up my blem lower and it's flawless inside the receiver as well as the outside. The 40 mags came in a separate box so I just threw that box in gun room. The lower appears to be very well made.

Another hundred rounds through my psa glock lower with 16 in psa 9mm keymod upper.Total of about 500 rounds so far and has performed flawless. One of my favorite guns to take to the range.Today I installed a KAW precision extended 9mm buffer and worked great.
