With all the bolt "issues" will any of the aftermarket BCGs work (failzero etc)? I know the KS47 bcg is cut a bit different, I just don't know if any of the manufactures have made a similar carrier to mimic those cuts.

Anybody try an adjustable gas block on one of these?

My 16" runs great suppressed, but I did have to change the buffer weight and spring to operate reliably, which ejects at the 3 o'clock now. I use two different wolf classic rounds, FMJ and HP. Oddly enough, they react differently to how the rifle is setup. The FMJ will only cycle 100% suppressed, while the HP will cycle suppressed and unsuppressed. Seems like two different gas pressures from the two different rounds, but my rifle is setup for suppressed with an H3 buffer weight and orange heavy spring for suppressed by sprinco. None of my Pmags have been altered and runs perfectly, I believe it's due to the heavy spring pressure sending the bolt home. My advice is to set the rifle to your common operating standards and stay consistent with the brand and type of round you use and commonly buy. Even with wolf ammo, I'm getting 1 or sub MOA at 100 yards easily. Great rifle once you work out the kinks.

Going from an H3 to an H1 with my orange spring caused inconsistencies in reliability. You need to find the right combination which will be rewarding when you do. Ya, it sucks to fine tune a rifle that should work right out of the box, but I was determined to make this rifle run as I love the concept and accuracy of utilizing cheap wolf ammo. My complete 16" had such a weak buffer spring new out of the box, that it took 2 passes of the charging handle to rack a round from a full 30 round pmag. Once I went with a stronger spring and buffer weight, issue was gone. I think a lot of ppl in this forum with mag and bolt issues should give this a try, could resolve all issues and sway them back to enjoying it vs using it as a hammer. View Quote |

For those of you that are saying to run heavier springs and buffers can you post if you are shooting your rifle suppressed and what length gas system you have - carbine or midlength?

I used an ALG ACT in my self-built AR-47, and never had a light primer strike on any ammo...hope that helps.

I'd really like to be able to use the non-PSA barrel and bolt (since the PSA bolt doesn't really change anything anyway) as its of much higher quality and shoots better groups than would the PSA. I'm not sure its going to matter really...I'd rather use a proprietary mag and have the bolt hold-open on a reliable rifle anyway. |

My son and I built our KS47 a few weeks ago and the 75 round Romanian drums fit the best for function. All the other mag options drag but with some tweaking I hope to update this post in the near future.

Now I do not have thousands of rounds out of my KS-47 with the 16 inch barrel but she runs just as I expected...just fine. I have had no issues after several hundred rounds and have greatly enjoyed shooting it. PS I have used several type of metal magazines without issue.

It's not PSA or CMMG, it is the combination of the AK chamber and in a AR receiver that doesn't accept all magazines. Some forum member posted a video on YouTube and after modifying the mags that don't work they ran flawlessly.

Got out and shot the rifle today, has anyone else had problems with light primer strikes? I swear i was getting 1 round to go off per every 3-4 light primer strikes not to mention failures to feed ever other or third shot.
edit after cleaning the rifle this morning, it looks like it came with an "enhanced" firing pin, looks to be a hair longer than some other ar 15 firing pins in compared it to. |

Replace your buffer spring with a new one or stronger one and your issues will be gone.
I also went with a Wolff heavy hammer spring, but light primer strikes are normally due to timing. My stock buffer spring wore out super fast and caused a lot of issues, once replaced, all good to go. |

Sure would be handy if we could get a complete short upper receiver (without BCG) or at least a stripped upper. When my form 1 comes back, I'd like to have complete short and 16" uppers to swap between.

Kinda disappointed about todays range session. Rifle still isn't cycling 100% yet, i think it needs some more break in. I was very disappointed that i could not even get this thing on paper at 25 yards though. Set up is PSA 16" barrel with a Dead Air Keymount break and Sandman L, Primary arms Advanced Micro Dot on an ADM mount. I was still high height over bore at 25 yards and then some at 100 yards - thinking its the weight of the suppressor but that's a pretty poor excuse, I also had an end cap strike or 5 in the process. Is this something that others are or have experienced and something worth reaching out to PSA about or should i just suck it up butter cup and buy a new barrel from a reputable manufacture and be done with it?

No issues with Silencerco Hybrid, accuracy is spot on.
|
|
|
[#43]
At this point im about 99.8% sure it's the barrel. I disassembled the upper but left the keymount break on the barrel and put the Sandman L on the end and looking as close as i could figure to straight down the barrel i could see the piece of the endcap that had been struck. I'll be sending an RMA to PSA to see if they can figure out exactly what the problem is

I hope PSA doesn't do what BM did to the ACR. Come on PSA, this is a great platform and can be taking to the next level. Can we get some updates on parts and availability? Looking to build another one, but need a strip upper.
