I've been watching AKOU's updates on the current PSAK torture test. Looks promising so far.
But I have a question. Since I already have four regular AKs (two SAR-1s and two 7.62x39 Saigas), I'm looking at something different. Any plans for AK pistols, or under folders? |

So any chance you guys are ever going to make the zhukov model again?
Got money burning a hole in my pocket, but about to jump on a DDI forged if they come in before you guys decide to get more zhukov models. I would have jumped on the regular polymer gb2 and put the furniture on myself, but your warranty is vague on modifying a firearm and voiding warranty. |

Are build kits still a thought or have they been shelved?

Kits are coming.

From the list of parts in the barreled receiver and the build kits and the pictures and videos, it seems like you get everything included in the complete PSAK47v2 except a cleaning rod, magazine, and front sling loop?
|

Just picked up a barreled receiver and build kit yesterday! I had a couple of questions
First, to what specification are your barrels threaded? Second, I would like to run my Griffin Optimus on this gun when it gets out of jail shortly. Do you guarantee concentric threads? Thanks for any help. |

So any upgrades to this kit compared to the previous one? (around January of last year when I saw these in stock?) I have a problem and want an ak for burning rounds at he farm

Does anyone know if the barreled receiver kit comes with the slant brake? It is in some of the pictures but not all, and it's not in the description.

Mine came with the slant brake already installed.

Someone post a range report asap, I can't get out right away. |

Has anyone purchased & received one of the "blem" builder kits? I'm wondering what the blemishes are and if it's worth the $20 difference to risk buying a blem set?

This may be the nicest finish AK I have ever seen. I normally don't search too hard for a blem, but it definitely didn't pop right out at me. I say FO. |

PSA, any chance a short barrel version is coming soon?
Like a AKS-74U or a M92 PAP? |

Well I have a blem build kit headed my way along with a MOEKOV and RED WOOD kits.
I ordered the Red Wood kit with my original order and immediately changed my mind and wanted the MOEKOV kit instead. (my mistake) I called CS but nobody answered the phone because it was 5-10 min before they close for the day??? So I send an email explaining I want to change my order. Then I read up on their site and it said orders can be cancelled if they have not been shipped. They can't be changed however. So I decided to order the MOEKEV kit and call first thing and cancel the Red Wood. Now I get told that my order is "Pulled" and I can't cancel. This is NOT what their site says about cancelling an order... Quote from their site: "Orders placed with Palmetto State Armory may be cancelled by the customer prior to the item having shipped. All cancellation requests must be made through the Customer Service Department at 803-724-6950, Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm EST. You MUST provide the order # when contacting Customer Service via phone or email. If the item/package has shipped, the order may not be cancelled and the customer must follow all rules applicable to returns. Please note that the return of the item/package will be made at the customer's expense. Cancelled orders may not be reversed. All cancellations are final." CS guy admits that my order is still at their facility but since it is "Pulled" or "Picked" I can't cancel. Maybe PSA should play by their own rules... It sux because I was so excited to get this rifle kit but now I am pissed at their CS or lack there of... |
|
|
I tried to cancel an AR rifle kit less than 3 hrs after I placed the order. The order was placed before they (CS) even opened for the day. Of course after waiting on hold for 30 mins for CS to cancel the order, they were not able to cancel the order because it had "shipped". Luckily it was free shipping so the CS dude said I could refuse delivery and it would return to them at no cost to me and I would get a full refund. We'll see, it's do for delivery back to them today. Fingers crossed.
It was a lot easier back in the day when they wouldn't ship stuff for weeks! Oh well. If you really don't want the extra build kit, refuse delivery. Check with CS on how much the return shipping would eat into your refund. May be worth it for you. |
|
|
I realize that they are shipping things faster now and that is a good thing, but don't publish one thing on your site, and then do differently.
It says you can't cancel if order has "shipped" not if order has been "Prepped for shipment" which in my case is what CS told me. I ordered it last night and over night or early this morning the warehouse crew pulled it off the shelf and prepped it for shipping. All they have to do is put it back on the shelf??? It is not a huge deal, it will cost me about $8.50 to return it. But in the mean time, I will have $160 bucks of my "Mad Money" tied up in this kit that could be used for other projects I only get so much Mad Money each month |

Got my kit put together today along with a co-workers. Both kits were blems,we looked for blems and couldn't find any. I went with the $99.00 black poly kit and he opted for the Blond wood kit w/alg trigger. Mine went together with no problems and fit and function appear to be very acceptable compared to my SAR-1.
His kit on the other hand required a little fitting and was missing screws for the stock tang/buttplate not sure which. The holes for the stock tang were drilled out way to big for any of the screws in the kit. To get his put together and functional we filled the holes with wood dowels and used the supplied screws,he will pick up screws for the buttplate at ACE hardware later. His pistol grip was also over drilled and the head of the grip screw would pass through the grip, a small flat washer fixed this but left the head of the grip screw protruding from the bottom of the grip. The lower hand guard was to "tall" and the rear band of the gas tube was hitting it not allowing the gas tube to drop in fully and lock into the tang in the receiver. Some time on the belt sander fixed this. Other than that the finished result was just as nice as mine. I would rate the wood kit as a 9/10 YMMV. The fit of the pistol grip block was very tight on both,a couple solid taps with the deadblow and a brass punch got them seated in the receiver Attached File |

Oddly enough, the red wood kit I tried to cancel has arrived. The blem receiver kit and the parts kit I want have not left PSA. All three were "Picked" at the same time.
Anxiously awaiting their arrival so I can assemble my first AK I have to admit that having a female in the build video played a major part in my decision to order the kit. Nothing against women, but I figured if a sandwich builder can do it.... |

I've been reading akfiles a lot the past few days also. I have a blem kit on the way to my FFL and I've been getting a bit concerned over what I might receive. I don't expect it to be perfect. I just hope everything fits and works without any major issues. I already have the red wood build kit, but ordered 2 stock screws because my kit only included 2 and I didn't know if they were for attaching the stock butt plate or to hold the stock on the receiver (and the barreled receiver kit doesn't list any screws included). I really want PSA to succeed, and I'm sure they'll take care of any issues, but this is my first AK and I'd rather not have to immediately send it in for repairs. I'm wondering if I should've just ordered a WASR instead. I'll just have to wait a couple days and see what I get.

I feel ya man. I have a all PSA ar and love it. I'm hoping I can at least get a carrier with a riveted gas piston and get an explanation on the material for the carrier. If the hg notches fit my moe hg no foul. But I'm not ok with a gas piston that has play. I want a PSA AK. That's why I ordered one.

There are several issues over there at akfiles and PSA isn't really chiming in much.

My carrier looks much like the one pictured above. My trunion SP? does have the star that is supposed to indicate milled. I also didn't get a cleaning rod??? |

View Quote cleaning rod is considered an "accessory"- I've watched the RobSki video from SHOT and its pretty clear that they say there are no cast parts used. Starting to question if we were lied to...I hope that's not the case. The HG notch they claimed (on AKFILES) was for a proprietary handguard they are working on........Please PSA, clear some of this up! My build kit will be here tomorrow and I have been dying to go shoot it... |

Per Rob Ski over on akfiles, and I'm quoting here --
"....if you do have issue with your build kit, email PSA customer service at [email protected] BUT PUT IN SUBJECT LINE : "ATTENTION AK" - this will front load you and i have been told that you will get faster response." |

My PSAK-47 should be at my FFL tomorrow. Reading the AKfiles and I am starting to worry. I hope I didn't waste my money. I'll take pics when it comes in. I bought the complete rifle and not the build kit.

Not very happy. Spent an hour on hold- Unfortunately the lady doing customer service could not answer ANY of my questions regarding the carrier material..Also she did not know what hand guard notches were.
