New dilemma...i am looking at an adjustable rear sight, the Kensigt DAS Adjustable Rear Sight White Dot with Serrated Blade, and want to get a night sight front sight. The issue is that the front sight recommended by Kensight is a 0.200" sight, and I cant find a night sight with that height. Would a 0.195", or a 0.204" be a better fit?
Thanks! |

I picked up some Blue and Rust remover, and it took the rust right off. I then covered it in frog lube. View Quote Very strange! My PSA stainless frame and slide have never shown ANY signs of rust. The carbon on the other hand, I have to keep it well coated in oil as I am working on it to keep it from rusting. |

I don't know if the barrel with bushing is going to be back in stock anytime soon...especially with the barrels being on clearance.
When I ordered my slides and frames, I had my father in law order a set as well. He has not gotten any parts for it yet so I was planning on picking some stuff up for him for Christmas. I ordered the clearance barrel, here, does anyone have a link to a stainless bushing that fits good, or fits with minimal fitting? Just curious to see if anyone else has gone this route. Thanks! |

I used the Remington Bushing off of CDNN, and it works well. I also bought the barrel on clearance, its a really good deal and I will put a match grade barrel in it later on. I am almost done with my build only a few more parts to go...

What is the barrel link drop clearance that other PSA 1911 builders are getting on their pistols? I am getting .012" with a PSA barrel.

Thank you to everyone that's gone before me and dared this project!
I am an unemployed Navy weapons tech - so I've been in a world of gunsmithing and precise measurements - but this is going to be my first 1911. I was lucky that PSA on Fernandina had a SS frame, slide, and barrel sitting there, and got my veterans discount on it as well! Now that I am unemployed this is going to be my "keep myself busy so I don't go insane" project. Being around 1911s all my life I know how they should feel and operate, but building one is gonna be interesting. So far I can say the fit of the parts I have is amazing! The slide/frame fit has some drag during the cycle (must be a non-square cut somewhere) but I know some hand lapping or minor stoning will make that go away. I have some MINIMAL horizontal slide play on the rails but its half of that of my Colt and Sig 1911s I have in the closet. Since this is my first build (out of many I hope) I am more focused on getting the RIGHT parts, the RIGHT tools, and not have to do a ton of fitting so I can slowly get more involved in that part as I do more builds. So far, it looks like EGW parts would offer the best fit for everything... I am especially looking at them for a MSH, beavertail, firing pin, extractor, safety, and slide stop... I know their parts are all well engineered and worth the money. I know there's other guys out there just as good but would I be wrong to go with EGW for it all? In the end, this is probably going to be a gift to my father-in-law in time for his birthday. I plan on sending it off to BlownDeadline to get their "patriotic" cerakote job done to it (as seen on a 1911 on their site) and give him his first 1911... and hopefully snatch up a carbon frame/slide so I can try getting a Turnbull hot blue/color case hardened project for myself. |

My father has a Taurus PT1911 and removed his tritium heinie sights from it. He is sending them to me (free set of tritium sights is always a bonus), I am curious if the Taurus sight cuts are compatible with the PSA sight cuts on the slide, and if not, how much modification would be necessary to make them fit?
Now if I could just convince PSA to release their carbon slide again, that's all I need to finish my build. Any ideas when they might be available? |

Getting close to ordering the barrel without the bushing, unless we can expect the full package in stock some time soon...

was this a one time deal or something we will see again?
I would like to build a full size SS 1911 for a reasonable price. |

Ok, I now have all the parts needed in the mail to get this thing together. I need to decide on some sights. Can folks provide some info on what folks on here are running? |

Any of you guys had to chase the Ejector pin hole with a drill bit to get the pin in? |
Yes but I use a flat bottomed end mill and turn it by hand only.
I had too also, did it from the opposite side with bit in hand and a little oil. Did not put it in the drill. The opposite side for me the bit would go in, on the safety side it would not. It had a small burr that I knocked out.

Thanx.
I had to really clean out the ejector pin hole. |
I just finished my PSA 1911 build and wanted to provide some feedback. I had a PSA SS Slide, Frame and Barrel. Everything went together as planned except for the barrel.
The barrel locked up and functioned fine but it's fit was poor. When in battery the barrel could move (i.e. I could push down on the barrel hood and there was movement). After closer review the link was too long and when in battery the slide stop pin was "link riding" and not settling down on the lower lugs of the barrel. Also when checking clearances the link was in tension when unlocked and not touching the VIS surface in the frame, instead the barrel was hitting the frame bed. Unfortunately this means I could not simply change the link as it needed a longer link to solve the issue with touching the frame VIS and needed a shorter link to stop the "link riding". The only thing I could determine was to reweld the lower lugs and machine. Since I don't have that capability I just ordered a new barrel; Ed Brown. I know the frame and slide are in spec because I can use an in-spec barrel from another 1911 and it fits fine and locks up correctly. An easy test is to install the slide stop in in the link and check if it rocks back and forth when in the locked position. Mine was visibly noticeable and rocked very bad. |
The ejector pin was a huge pain in the a$$!
Ok got it all together. Everything cycles well. Now I gotta figure out why my MAIN SPRING CAP PIN will not stay in. The pin keeps falling out. Otherwise no other issues so far. |
Never mind. Took a 15min mental break. And went and took a shower.
And realized the pins has to go in from the front of the main spring housing. DOHHHHH. |
The ejector pin I am going to say that PSA wanted folks to go with a solid pin.
This was a "easier" to fit than a roll pin. (I know the roll pin is slightly bigger, and meant to compress to fit) CDNN Soilid Ejector Pin |
