I got a new barrel nut for him. I'm still checking out my parts bin to see what else I can spare. Weird how the "spare parts" bin is so close to the " new rifle build" bin.

Thanks for all of the generous offers to help him get going again.
meNmyARs has offered to send him a complete upper! I am actually stunned at the generosity of all of the members here that have offered to chip in. I have passed on some of these posts to him and he is sincerely appreciative for everyone's concern and offers to help him. The lower looks to be in very good shape with the exception of a broken bolt catch. |

I guess the twelve year old bought, and picked-up the gun himself. The gun has an owner, a 12 year old was the user, so why doesn't the owner chime in, if able to. But posting this in the PSA Industry thread makes it look like you want something from them, especially when it is obviously an ammunition issue. This thread has nothing to do with PSA. How about chasing down who made the ammo, and posting the info from them? I've followed both threads since inception. I just hate these 3rd party stories, it's too convenient that you posted the same thing in several area's. Why here, the other two thread didn't get the answer you wanted OP? But posting this in the PSA Industry thread makes it look like you want something from them, especially when it is obviously an ammunition issue. This thread has nothing to do with PSA. No kidding. I never asked for PSA to do anything. I NEVER insuated that PSA had anything to do with this. If you had read the posts, I posted this here because it was their rifle and I thought they might like to see it. I haven't had any contact with them. Everybody knows it is an ammunition issue. How about chasing down who made the ammo, and posting the info from them? Since I didn't buy the ammo, I really can't go to them and make a case. I've followed both threads since inception. I just hate these 3rd party stories, it's too convenient that you posted the same thing in several area's. I first posted in GD because it gets the most traffic. I then posted here for the above reason. On the suggestion of another member I posted it also to the reloading forum. It's not like I have asked anyone for anything or tried to conceal anything. Some members do not venture into GD so cross posting actually generated a number of good posts. You really think every post is an attempt to rip someone off? Regardless, if it was your intent , instead of posting this in the Industry section you could have simply emailed PSA. But, by posting it here there's no doubt it could have or even may have damaged PSA's business, or reputation. Posting it here is inflammatory, period. It would have been better had you gone to the reloader's facebook page(if they have one), or even just contacted them directly. The point is PSA has zero culpability, yet your post here will cast doubt on future purchasers minds, but you either didn't think or care about that. The GD post got plenty of traffic, yet you started a thread here the next day, and I doubt it was for their benefit.
There is a reason why the site staff and Mods ask that you attempt to resolve the issue with the manufacturer first, before posting about it. But, posting it 3 times in 3 different forums wasn't enough for you, you still hadn't received what you wanted. You just post it here, and I have zero doubt you had held out some hope PSA would help out by offering new parts, but that didn't pan out. Instead a very kind member helped out, kudos to him for he is a bigger person than I. You want everyone to see you as the White Knight, but the skeptic in me see's through the veiled intent. Repetitious posts and the content within yield the true intent. Also stating that they purchased several thousand rounds of the same ammo, shows they have the means to repair it themselves. The final photo is the icing on the cake, I'm the asshole here, very well played. |

[#33]
The handguard is a bit difficult - plastic AR handguards are high-temp plastic. Legos, K'nex, et al, are ABS plastic. So while I've played w/ a partially glued forward handguard, if you get things hot enough, ABS plastic is gonna melt. I've worked on a thumbhole/bumpfire, and it would seem one of the easiest things to do is epoxy a standard AR handgrip on top of a plastic brick structure. Plastic bricks don't do compound curves very well.
I had a lot of time on my hands in Kuwait. What you can't see in the picture above are the 8 steel 10-24 threaded rods that run vertically up the butt which hold it together under recoil. I put it on the 870. Here's 24 rounds of 12 ga 3" 00 buck. I flinch so bad on the first trigger pull that I cause a misfire. |
