Put about 150 rds through min before hitting FTE issues. Can only fire one shot at a time before having to manually work the bolt. Still working on diagnosing the problem.

Anybody else's chamber really tight. With 5.56 it's all I can do to extract a loaded round.
I haven't tried it with .223. I don't have any. Going to try to get some tomorrow. |

View Quote I cleaned my chamber and barrel real good before I put a round through it. I figured out a way to clean my chamber using a a barrel swab that fits tight in the chamber on a cleaning rod into a drill. My chamber looks like a mirror now. anyway Ive got close to 500 rounds through and not one malfunction. |

I just tried mine. No problem ejecting the rounds manually.
No more resistance than any of my other ARs. |

But after all that I am not the slightest bit disappointed with my decision to buy this upper. It shoots great and ran fine this weekend on Wolf and Tula. This setup has almost no recoil and feels ROCK solid. another update
Went shooting at the indoor range Guns Plus right outside of Fort Bragg. Fired a couple hundred rounds of a different 5.56. I wanted to run it on the dry side and basically wiped all the lube off of the nickel boron BCG. Not one malfunction aftter over 500 rounds through her. Ive decided other than running an Otis rip cord down the barrel I'm not going to clean it for a while and see how it does. Gun show in Fayetteville NC this weekend so I'm going to grab a bunch of different ammo types and take it to a 300 yard range. Ill keep y'all posted. |

I first received mine several months ago, and I noticed that something wasn't right with the handguard retention via the delta ring, I could barely get the round rifle length handguards off, but couldn't get them back on completely. IMO something was wrong with how the delta ring assembly was installed or where the handguard retainer was placed. The HG retainer screw to the Front Sight was not the issue. I tried self remedy, and purchased a used Magpul handguard set from a member (no-go), and then a new set of Magpul handguards for it (no-go), no matter what I did I couldn't get it on completely. I even tried the KAC M5 RAS (no-go), nothing would lock onto the rifle. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that I had to send the upper back to PSA. PSA took care and paid for return shipping. It is scheduled to arrive to my doorstep this Monday. I'll find out if I received a replacement or a repair, I marked the receiver in an inconspicuous manner, and I have an idea what happened, but I'll reserve judgement until Monday. Hint: I think it was a distance issue in the build. No matter what happened, you will be hard pressed to find a quality product for the price we all paid. Not to forget, PSA CS is a key part of their successful business model. I will continue to buy from them, they've earned my loyalty. |

I had similar problems with the KAC M5 but I found that it was the nut on the front sight post that wasn't letting it snap into place, I didn't have any issues with the MOE or traditional hand guards though.

could this whole handguard problem be the result of just pinning the front sight block either to close or far away. If your off just a mm it can cause problems with mounting.
I'm new to ARs so just speculating. Other than the installation of my MOE handguards being a bitch, I could not be more happy with my rifle. ETA Would be nice if PSA would chime in this thread. |

View Quote I think that is exactly what happened with the answer being pinned too close. I also could not get my Magpul Rifle handguard on. I took it to a gunsmith and he couldn't get it on either. (I thought it was me). After messing with it for a while I weighed the shop time for the handguard vs. free floating the rifle. They ate the time and I bought a rail and had the FSB removed and had them install it. I am a huge PSA Fan and I have bought an upper and lower after this so this also isn't a psa bash. I just think they had large bad batch of dissy uppers with bad measurements. Hopefully they will read all the issues here and correct the problem. |

View Quote Here's a snippet from my post: "Hint: I think it was a distance issue in the build.", which leads to what I believe the issue at hand is. When I measured everything, it came out to be around 1/8th" +/- a hair off, just enough to where the tines of the barrel nut miss the open slot on the handguards. The front sight's placement on the barrel is off just enough to matter. If they run the builds like an assembly line, than everyone would experience this. But if they have 10 people doing builds from beginning to end, it's one of the builders that made the mistake in the measurement. So anything right now is pure speculation. Monday, I'll know for certain. ETA: I've decided on the Fortis 12" rail, but I wanted a rifle that was 100% in-spec. |

I also bought a SS Dissipator, but I got the one that came with the MOE handguard for $229, I snagged it right up when I saw it. The upper looks great, haven't gotten to fire it yet, but it's ready to go. However, tonight I noticed that the FSB is loose :( as in, easily move it side to side 1/8" of an inch by hand loose.
The pins seem tight, but I'm going to give them a whack tomorrow and see if they're properly tapered, if not I'll probably drill and tap the FSB for set screws. I really want to use the front sight, I thought about putting my Aimpoint on it, but really like the rifle length sights and look, so I want to get this tightened up. Glad I noticed it before I started chasing holes all over the paper! I'll report back when I get to shoot it, hopefully by next weekend. |

I received a brand new upper today, which I assume that the defect in my previous upper was something that needed enough work to warrant replacement.
All I can say is through thick & thin, PSA comes through 100% of the time for me. They have once again earned my loyal, eternal business. The A2 flash hider was installed so perfectly that the flats were vertically aligned, and perfectly timed. A "Tier One" company couldn't even get that right on my last upper purchase. |

Another update. Shot a few hundred more last weekend. I didn't really go for groups as I was shooting at steel targets at 100y but I was hitting what I aimed at with ease. I guess I'm somewhere close to 600 - 700 rounds through the rifle and not one malfunction of any kind yet.
Will try to get some groups this weekend if I can. ETA any of you other guys that picked up that upper make it to the range yet? |

I've ran close to 1000 rounds of Tula .223 though my upper, and I haven't had any reliability issues. The gun just keeps running. It's been cold up here the last couple of weeks. I might run some more rounds though it this weekend to see how it operates in the cold.
