I am curious as to what your response is to the PTAC barrels that have an unusable lack of quality in the machining of the barrels.
Here is your chance to make it right. |

So far it seems that most that have gotten them think they are garbage.
Except the ass-licks that always defend PSA.You will not hear a peep out of them if they actually bought one of those shitty barrels. That would expose them as hypocrites, and they won't admit it,especially after defending them so adamantly |

There are a few who say their barrels look nothing like the bad ones posted here. That is what I want to know. Are these bad barrels what we should have received? Are they the norm for the PTAC line? That is the question. |
|
Some of these morons defending these shitty barrels have actually said "they are advertised as bargain parts,so don't feel bad when you get a sub-par product" and "be lucky that PSA is even offering these to people at that price-point"
That is the extreme these people will go to defending PSA |

I just pulled mine out of the safe to check the barrel. The bore looked fine, nothing like some of the pictures people posted. I gave it a quick cleaning with some bore shine and some patches, it was pretty dirty, comparable to a range trip with a few hundred rounds. I had SKU 39236 which I believe has an unlined barrel, product descriptions is something PSA could improve on. I wasn't able to get a picture down the barrel with my camera, but as I said it looked good and nothing like a Mosin barrel as others have encountered.

PSA should issue call tags and full refund or exchange for returns for this bad bore uppers. PSA definitely needs to be serious on QC, who would keep buying from you if so many problems.

I'm an admitted PSA fanboy but the PTAC upper that I just received has an awful looking bore. The rest of the upper looks good but the bore looks like concrete pavement. Literally the worst bore I've ever seen in a new barrel.
I too feel that PSA needs to address this issue. I'm building this rifle to eventually give as a gift but I can't justify giving something with this issue to someone. I haven't shot it yet but just looking at the bore I do not expect good results. I will post a followup after I've test fired it though. |

You get what you pay for. WTF did you think you were gettting with a $300 complete upper? Good parts cost good money. You got EXACTLY what you deserved. Shouldve ponied up more money for a quality upper rather than bitch your PTAC bottom basement price upper was bottom basement junk quality. Who'dve thought....
My personal opinion.... I wish PSA would do away with PTAC all together. Its ruining your brand. ETA: you bought a "no frills" product and received exactly that. You gambled and lost. PSA owes you nothing. You got what you paid for. Be happy. |
|
Well... Looks like I'll sit back and wait for the verdict on the PTac barrels. I've used the Ptac LPK, and other than the takedown pin having more slop than others, the rest of the parts were fine. Trigger feels comparable to other LPKs I've used. It's mated to a Chiappa M4-22 upper, which functions fine.

The problem that I have is knowing what benefit I get as I pay more for any given component. Example: Imagine that top brand X barrel costs $300 and has Y accuracy and Z lifetime (rounds fired). If I buy another barrel for $150 what do I give up in terms of accuracy and barrel life expectancy? If the life expectancy drops from 10,000 rounds to 7000 rounds I can accept that. If the accuracy changes from 3" groups to 5" groups, I can accept that. |

It's like they reclaimed barrels from a boat accident that were underwater for months. PSA issued me a return label though so I am happy. If getting a pitted barrel full of scratches between the lands is considered normal for that price it should be advertised. I am thinking these are defects though. I'll take a lesser steel unlined somewhat rough barrel for a bargain build truck gun. But I would not pay for what I got. Plus this was supposed to be a black Friday deal meaning you get a lot for your dollar as a promo. I am a happy repeat customer and I fully believe PSA will make it right with a replacement. It can be rough around the edges with not the best finish and that's fine as long as the bore is fairly clean looking meaning it doesn't come pre scratched and pitted. I don't care if its a little dirty as long as it cleans up. |

Oh..crap. One of mine has a turd of a barrel too..the other is fine. Obviously there is a problem here.

Yesterday i went out with my brother and neighbor, and sighted in and shot both of my PTAC uppers.
i have one i use for a dedicated .22 build, and one for 5.56 usage. I have not photographed them yet. I plan to soon. Before cleaning and after. both barrels were very accurate (more so than me) and performed flawlessly. I will post up a thread later. |

I understand this whole P-Tac thing from PSA. I don't agree with it, but I understand it. Granted, I'll NEVER spend any of my money on any of this shit. Since it first stumbled on to the scene, anything with the P-Tac name has been a Charlie Foxtrot, for the most part. The "pros" definitely don't out-weigh the "cons" when it comes to this junk. Whoever the person was at PSA that decided to buy this junk needs a swift kick to the junk and throat chop. Better yet, raise your hand and Tommy will come back there and hit you in the head with a tack hammer because you are a retard.
Personally, I'd give this product line a quick and unceremonious death, never to be heard from again. PSA does enough dumb shit to keep people on their asses. No sense giving the masses another reason. |

I feel like I have survivor's guilt. My PTAC arrived clean and has a shiny bore. It functioned fine, and i went and added a low profile gas block and free float rail It looks great.
I feel bad for the folks who got a bad one, hope they make it right for you fellas. I just ordered some more blem parts for some rainy day projects and refinish them anyway, In my experience, even their blem stuff was pretty decent. Frankly I've had the best luck and service from PSA this year, I hope they continue that service onto those who got bad barrels. |
|
I wonder if PSA will sell some "frills" that people could add to their PTAC builds.
...that should rectify the problem! |

I hope this means they are working on something instead of just ignoring it. It takes longer than their typical response time may be because of weekend and may indicates this issue is bigger than what customer service can handle. In my industry, something like this will be addressed ASAP, quarantine the suspect lot, inform customers and recall before it causes real damage to their reputation. |

I have a 1:9 PTAC and a 1:7 PTAC. Only fired the 1:9 and it was fine. Going to look over both now.

the distinction between the PTAC and PSA. When I went to walk him through his first build I was appalled that PSA shipped this junk. Poor machining everywhere, the LPK, the upper, and the barrel was horrible. He did not want to wait for a return so we ended spending 3 hours filing, sanding, and refinishing to get a semi decent looking finished product. I ended up selling him a CHF build I did sometime last year but never shot. I think he ended up trading the PTAC to a LGS for a handgun.
Based on what I have seen, IMO PSA should drop PTAC but something tells me that PSA has an interest in PTAC. |

Got one incoming and dont care if its a smoothbore, gonna be a .22 plinker anyways. Ill be mad if I get a baffle strike, otherwise dont care.

I'll have to check mine when I get back home on Thursday. Yikes.
Has anyone heard from PSA at all? If so, have they mentioned any actions they would take? IIRC in the past they've always taken care of their customers, no? |

Glad I just found this thread. My PTAC 1/7 upper had a rough looking bore as well. Now I know I am not alone in this. This seems to be a wide spread problem.
It is troubling that PSA has not given instructions on how customers should proceed regarding this. If anyone knows otherwise please say so. I'm subscribing to this thread so I can see the latest regarding this. |
