When did the stealth lowers change? Just got a stealth lower for a build (probably my 8th?) and the finish is as shinny as nitride. It had several blemishes of white flakes in the finish and the finish had uneven coloration. It does not appear to be the usual finish as aluminum black will not fill in the blemishes like other lowers. Never seen a lower that shiny, no where close to the same finish of all my PSA lowers before it. Probably gonna off load it on a friend.

Is there any consistency with the flared magwell? Some of my older PSA lowers don’t have much of a flare but my newer ones are much better. Are they all coming that way now or is it hit & miss? |

I've seen "HP"-prefixed lowers referenced in comments but not in the updated original post. What is the story with them? I've got a "Stealth" PA-15 MULTI safe/fire lower from mid-2019, HP074xxx s/n, stamped "West Columbia," that is also low shelf. I'm assuming that is from their in-house production, but the low shelf seems out of the norm. Lousy pic attached (if I can get it to work). .25" from bottom of takedown pin hole to shelf... machining looks similar to the early SC example you posted - not quite finished. https://ibb.co/qWwRqR2 View Quote Thank you for the compliments, and WELCOME ABOARD! this site has a LOT of great folks on it, who all are more than happy to help you on any aspect of just about anything they can. It is my belief that the HP prefixed lowers were produced in house at one of their Machining shops, as early on conversions to their own production of lowers. At this time they were still having a good number of LW lowers produced as well. The fact its engraved with the West Columbia monicker also kinda dates it, as it shows it was after they purchased the warehouse facility that they use for the address of all receivers now. The fact that its on a Stealth would also make me think that its a sister company early lower becaue it would be easier / take less time to machine than the ones with the actual roll mark as well. The Low shelf is not really that odd though. Most of the ones ive seen or had are low shelf. The .25 from bottom of pin hole to shelf looking similar to the SC example could be they were using the SC as a template, to help refine their lower as well. I'm not sure and remember this is all just my specuclation. I appreciate your efforts, your photo does not show up however. again, thank you for the comments, compliments, and welcome to the site. |

Thanks for the info. I guess it's curiosity more than anything important. My son built one HP into a 6.5G for hunting. I'm building another into a pistol to replace another pistol I'm in Form1 process to turn into an SBR.
Thanks for the exhaustive work. Fun to research even of it doesn't change how they function! |

View Quote Your'e welcome. It is much a labor of love than anything else. You are correct with it being a fun thing to research even if it doesnt change anything. Through the years since PSA had became a major manufacturer i've kinda grown into an Ar enthusiast with them, and thus since they are my home team, my home manufacturer, if you will, i followed what they put out and had all this knowledge that was rambling around in my head that people kept asking for over and over throughout the years. Thats why i had originally thought to put the post up. back in the early days there was a lot of confusion as to what if anything PSA manufactured or not, and this thread kinda helped to keep that clear as well. I have a 6.5g i built from them as well, i've considered using for hunting. I havent done it. yet, but i may soon. I just need to make sure its sighted in first. until then, back to the old 3030. As for your HP pistol build is your form1 gun going to be a standard 5.56 as well? or is it another caliber? and what about the one replacing the Form1 pistol? is that going to be a 556 as well? I've not delved into the form1 stuff yet, although i probably should,. I have an ar pistol here in 300black and i love it, so ii i form1'ed anything it would probably be that. Thanks again for the compliments, and if theres anything i can help with, or anything i need to change on the post please dont hesitate to reach out. |

View Quote My son's Grendel was bargain basement project to give him a low-recoil option. PSA lower w/basic PSA MOE/EPT build kit, BCA upper when they were sub-$300, PA 2.5x optic, and rattle-can camo. It ended up being a tack driver at <200yds and would be fun to put a higher-power scope on it to stretch further. My Aero pistol is currently 300BLK 7.5", SBA3 and LAW folder. It folds to 18" OAL, so you can imagine some of the places that can be stowed. That lower is converting to SBR, and I will swap the SBA3 and probably the folder over to the new PSA build. I'm thinking a 12.5" Grendel upper build with a nicer scope for deer hunting for the SBR while having the option to run the 300BLK upper as well. |

I have a grendel myself and love it. but i dont have the ability/ area to shoot it at much farther distances. yeah that aero blk in 18" is amazing i bet. Iv'e thought about a law folder for a while to get a great "truck" gun package. my latest build is a psa 9 on 4" barrel with a sba3 and its tiny. i cant imagine throwing a law folder on it, but i may, and see how small that is. I dont know/ think how well grendel will perform on a setup with a 12.5 inch barrel i konw. mine is 20 inches and it loves it for distance. I've thought of doing a grendel pistol before too, just havent really researched the ballistics to see what would be best for it / me and to make it worthwhile. Anyways... Today I've edited the initial post again. I've added the 2020 Thanksgiving meme lower... the "TURKEYGUNR-15" as it went on pre-order sales on 11-25-20. Check it out and go get you some!!! |

I was about to buy 4 PSA “M16A4” stripped lowers, but stopped after seeing the markings for U.S. Prop., M16A4, and SN marking did not match and looked very non-military… Being a retired Army Sergeant First Class, my eyes can’t get past this and yes, it’s only a clone and I know this!!
PSA, could you please post an ACTUAL pictures of your “CURRENT” production of your M16A4 and your M4A1 lower receivers, showing all the markings on left-side of the receiver? I’m making this request since the actual M16A4 lower receivers I saw, DIDN’T LOOK LIKE THE PHOTO ON YOUR WEBSITE. Thanks!! |

My M16A4 lower was the most difficult lower to assemble that I have ever had
The trigger guard retaining pin holes were out of spec and I could not get it completely inserted I had to dremel off the remaining length of the roll pin flush with the receiver The LPK safety elector wouldn’t sit flash in the safe position and I had to dremel off the he section under the receiver tab to allow the selector lever to set in the safe position Poor QC |
