Not to hijack this thread but can someone give me a quick rundown of the difference in the design between these and an AR15. I just built my first AR15 and was thinking about doing one of these next(hopefully with Palmetto parts).
People are talking about different styles though and things. Can I use the same tools? Is the function pretty much the same? If I built my AR15 would I be able to build one of these easy enough? Sorry for the ignorance. Paul |

I'm assuming the lower is going to be a glorified AR lower with a gigantic magwell. Imagine it as a bloated AR.
Here's a picture of HK's version. ![]() |

Agreed, except I wouldn't want that specific HK. It can only use very expensive HK magazines. I want to be able to use Magpul 7.62x51 magazines.
If Palmetto can keep the lowers/uppers in an affordable range they'll make a killing. Here's a Bushmaster in 308. They sell for around $1200 - If Palmetto can get a complete rifle under a grand, I'm in for one. Also they should give us some teaser shots before they're available.

Any ideas for cost? I've looked into some of the other manufacturers and it looks like 7.62 nato is a pricey AR

I really hope they're going to be in the affordable range. If a basic build runs more north of a grand, I will probably pass. |

If it's SR25/DPMS/Magpul pattern with a street price of $1300 or less count me in.
As a side note the reason PSA is so popular is their business model. Just like Spike's, CMMG, and BCM they came out with a product that was superior than most and didn't try to make back their investment on the first two product runs. Consistency wins all which is why something like the ACR crashed and burned. As long as PSA continues to do so, the better they will do, and the better their 308 will sell. Some of the listed companies have inflated their prices to fund other projects, but as many can see their market share is slowly being lost to PSA and I hope PSA reflects on that with everything, not justvthe 308. |

Though I'm assuming you sadly don't have any yet, as I'm sure you haven't received any parts yet. Also, I'm assuming you'll offer separate parts such as barrels/uppers/lowers. I want to build an SBR in 308.

I'm so excited for this Paul I would say it's a good thing, plenty of parts available. And we can use the 308 PMAGs. Which are affordable. Armalite magazines are pricey. |

Is the upper rail height standard or the new DPMS?

I'm hoping these will be offered with Criterion's chrome lined barrels. Hopefully a 20" as well. So far no one sells a dpms pattern .308 AR with a 20" CL tube with "gov't profile.". There is always an Armalite, but it looks like things in the .308 AR world are consolidating around the DPMS pattern. Hell, even Armalite is now selling a version that takes DPMS pattern mags.
