I just picked up my lower stripped receiver and before i put any paarts into it, i tried one of my pmags that had dropped free in other lower receivers. I had to really shove it in there and obviously has to really jerk on it to get it out. I went to my local gun shop and picked up another newer pmag and that actually fit worse than the older one. The older one was bought back in 2008. I am going to try another shop to see if they have gi mags but at this point i am wondering if it's a out of spec magwell. I have some calipers and measured the magwell and it might technically be in spec. The measurement in question is the length, not the width. In other words, instead of the magwell being 2.398, it measures 2.387.
Has anyone else had this problem? |

We have had reports of the Pmags and other polymer magazines varying in dimensions causing a tight fit while the mil-spec aluminum mags drop free. Our receiver mag wells are broach cut to military specification dimensions not the aftermarket.

Sorry for the long time since the first postin. I would first like to point out that at the local Cabelas, a complete DPMS rifle WOULD ACCEPT ALL MAGAZINES! My stripped lower would only accept gi mags. Another thing i noticed was that the inside of my stripped lower was not as well finished/completed as the one that was fully assembled and on the shelf
Not happy with this kind of quality, i went back to the shop i bought it from and noticed that the other 2 receivers he had were around the same serial number. Those too were just as bad as the one i paid for. He was kind enough to let me exchange it for one that had a more thorough job to it. I have to say, that even though it barely passed spec according to DPMS measurements, the fact that the machining was so bad over an entire lot, maks me doubt the quality of your other products. I won't discuss who i picked for my lower, just know that it is someone else. |

They work great and drop free just fine when empty or full... I have used these Thermold (polymer) mags in both complete rifles I bought from DPMS AND in DPMS lowers that I bought and built myself. No issues in either. Recently steered a friend of mine towards a DPMS lower for a rifle he was building and he has NO complaints about the quality either. |

My 2 stripped lowers will let Magpul mags drop free. They didn't when the reciever was brand new and dry.
