See if there's a "4U486" on the right side partially hidden by the latch lever. That's the CAGE code for P&S Products Inc and has been showing up on Colt's waffle stocks for a while now.
P&S Products also does business as Molding Solutions (
https://www.molders.com/military.php ), EXOS, and Tactical Intent Group (
http://www.buzzfile.com/business/Molding-Solutions-859-231-0031 ).
Tacticalintent.com (which has a phone number with the same 859 area code as Molding Solutions) has waffle stocks that it claims are made by a government contractor of mil-spec materials for $18.50 with free shipping (
http://tacticalintent.com/buffers-tubes-etc/buttstocks/tactical-intent-black-milspec-ar15-buttstock.html ).
On a whim, I ordered one. It is marked "4U486" like my "Colt" one, with all mold markings exactly the same and in exactly the same places. Although open to some interpretation, it
might be a little glossier than the typical "Colt" waffle stock (Normal variation? Slight cosmetic blems being sold cheap? I'm just seeing something that isn't there?)
The clincher was how the charge posted on my checking account. The tacticalintent.com charge posted as Molding Solutions with Molding Solutions' telephone number. These appear to be the same waffle stocks that P&S Products is selling to Colt... for $18.50 shipped.
