I'm pretty pumped. No idea when it'll show up, but I'm looking forward to laying my hands on it. |

Awesome! I just read about it on FB. Make sure you post pics and take her to the range ASAP!

I'm a manager at Washington state's largest indoor range. I spoke to our Director of Operations and asked her to try to special order one for me. I believe it was through RSR or AcuSport. |

This rifle is actually a TALO exclusive. I know we got the SKU directly from TALO, but I could've sworn that the actual ordering page was through an affiliated dealer. Not my wheelhouse anyway, I just know that she's put my name on one. Looking forward to layman my grubby mitts on it. Now: What sort of optic should it wear... |

See the Industry Colt forum.
There is at least one in the wild. Have you got any updates to share? |
|
Not on my end, sadly.
:( We got a couple of the CCU 1911 pistols (which are AWESOME, BTW), but no dice on the rifle yet. |
|
Went in to buy myself a Colt Combat Unit pistol as a 'merry-Christmas-to-me' gift and was advised by the Director of Operations that the 6960s had shipped! I should have mine in a week and a half or so.

|
Didn't look at complete rifles, but there are "take off" uppers on gunbroker already.

I got my 6960 CCU last week, and it's freakin' awesome. I will upload a few pictures at a later date if anyone wants.
Briefly: -It is a very light and well-balanced rifle. I've not owned a factory-built rifle in years and years; this one impresses. -The CCU has demonstrated very, very good accuracy thus far. Getting a very rough zero at work, I was shooting wonderful groups at 25 yards with MBUS Pro iron sights. Tonight, I got a rough zero with my Trijicon 3.5x ACOG, and was able to produce a four-shot, one-hole group. -The only things that I have changed from factory configuration are the charging handle and magazine release, for personal preference reasons. I like ambidexterity, so I've substituted an AXTS Raptor charging handle and a Norgon ambidextrous magazine release. -The factory trigger is about what you would expect. Crunchy with some hesitation just prior to the break. Not unworkable, but not remarkably good, either. -I've added the following: -Blue Force Gear QD Vickers sling -Magpul MBUS Pro front & rear iron sights -Trijicon TA11 3.5x ACOG riflescope -SureFire 2-cell Scout light in an IWC/HSP mount. -Magpul BAD lever Aside from that, the rifle is stock, and I largely intend to keep it that way. I have no complaints about it thus far. I may--may--flip the ACOG for a Trijicon TR24 AcuPoint 1-4x riflescope, but the more I use the ACOG, the more I love the reticle. |

They're all over gun broker; 1175ish seems to be the rate View Quote Their priced there, but not selling! I went through all three pages of "completed" auctions, not one has sold. Only two had bids, the highest getting $1100. I'd buy one if they were $900, maybe the market will bring them down to that price point. MrGuns - have you tried to get one in for review? |
|
Colt just released a :51 second video on this carbine on YouTube.

I stopped by my local gun shop and picked up the new 6960. So pretty so light and well balanced. I have to get an optic for her. Probably a T2 or the PRO.
|
|
Stopped by my LGS- Tombstone Tactical in Phoenix. They have it in stock for $1189.00
I fought myself from buying it.....sweet rifle but I have enough AR's....... |

New member here, long time reader. Cant see your pics. Just shows x's. Ive had a CCU about 3 weeks now. Ill post pictures of it if anyone wants to see it and I can figure out how

I have one of these along with 2 6720s. The 6960 feels as light and handy as my 6720s but with a great feeling, slim rail and mid length gas system. (I can't really tell a difference in recoil from a 6720 to 6960, but all the operators say the mid is better so I'll go with that)
I've got a spare 6920 lower that I'd love to slap another 6960 upper on, if they ever become available... |

Very nice! The ta11 looks good on it! That combat unit pistol is sweet too!

Colt told me before SHOT I could get a writers demo sent to me to T&E
i need to call and get started on that. Stupid personal life seems to be really wreaking havoc on my schedule for these things over the last 6 months |

Usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks before the gun arrives despite idiotic and untrue claims online that colt is gutted, its business as usual. thought the custom shop had some lay offs due to being to slow to justify the expense of the highly skilled gentlemen who worked there sadly. but then again every where is slowing down |

Thinking of picking one of these bad boys up as my first AR to learn off. Any thoughts on the value you're getting here for a premade? From what I've read from this thread it seems like a great rifle, and reviews to-date are still really sparse..
|
|
Smody I really like mine. It is a great rifle and I definately don't think you will be disappointed if you pick one up. The only minor annoyances I had with mine was the rail was slightly canted which is an easy fix with the cmr and I do not like the sl pistol grip. Both issues solved very easily. The rifle shoots great and runs as flawlessly as my other colts. I am just north of 1000 rounds thru the rifle now

Thanks for the reply, I just put in my order and really excited to learn on this platform! I'm a lefty to make things more fun, but I think I'm going to just throw on some flip up iron sights and get used to the beast for a few hundred rounds before I think about what kind of tweaks I want to do. I would think Throwing on an ambi mag release, charging handle and BAD lever is a good idea, what are your thoughts? What kind of optics did you run on this rifle?

I have a ta45 acog on mine. The other changes I made was a BCM gunfighter comp and charging handle and swapped the sl grip to an a2. I'm on the strange side and have always like the a2 grip. I also have a troy fixed front sight and an mbus rear. I will measure the barrel diameter tonight and compare it to a 6720 since I have one of those too.

Is there a washer between the gas block and the shoulder, i.e., where the handguard cap would otherwise be installed?
|
|
Okay according to my really cheap digital caliper the 6720 barrel measure .058 and the ccu measures .061. Not sure how accurate my calipers are though. If I could figure out how to post pictures I'd show the readings
