I recently picked up a Colt MT6601 from Bud's. It was my first AR lust back in the late 90s and for some reason, throughout the years and even though the ban has long passed, I've always found myself attracted to this style of rifle. Of course it has the A2 upper, no bayo lug, and no flash hider - or threads for that matter. I understand there isn't really much collector value for this rifle so I more or less bought it based on how much I enjoyed them when I was younger.
All that aside, does anyone know why Colt is still sending these out? My barrel is marked November of 2009. Both the upper and lower are Cerro Forge. Maybe they have a large inventory of leftovers of this style? If they just have the spare upper receivers, why not turn out some 6520s? (Also one of my first AR crushes)
Thank you all for your help.
