Thanks for the updates on the thread guys. I saw them and contacted GT - they had not contacted me yet. I verified they had 4 in stock at the Dallas store, went in and picked one up. I had to run back to work so haven't had a chance to poor over it yet but it did have an F marked FSB and removable rear sight/handle. I'd imagine it's an ambi selector but had to scoot back to the office. The mag wasn't Colt but Magpul. Thought that was strange that they don't even put Colt mags with them anymore.
**Edit** - got it home and gave it a better look see. It also has the ambi selector. The assessory packet contains a Magpul Gen 2 30 round mag, Colt labeled lock, and little blue Colt M16A2 Rifle Operator's Manual (would have figured they would have one for the M16A4 but whatever). Earl |

I just picked mine up today. Mine came with an F-marked FSB and an ambi safety too. One thing that seemed a little odd to me was that there was no F-mark on the left side where I have always seen it before. There is a very faint F on the right side; my kid can see it in the right light and I need to use an illuminated magnifying glass to see it but it is there. Good thing I took my kid with me to pick it up because I couldn’t see the F stamp at all but he assured me it was there and he was right. I’ve seen an F forge mark on the right before but this does not look like a forge mark; also, I measured it and it is definitely the correct height for an F-marked FSB. Other than that minor weirdness, it was definitely worth the wait. So far, I’ve added a Colt Aluminum trap door, a KAC M5 RAS rail, a Geissele SSA-E trigger, a Matech rear sight; and a Specialized Armament green extractor spring. Can’t wait to try it out Sunday.

I have one coming from GT Distributers for $920 shipped. I called in my order and they pulled the rifle out of their store in Austin for me. I'm can't wait to get it.

I just picked my rifle up from my FFL. It doesn't have an F marked front sight block, but I'm extremely happy to have picked it up for a great price.

If you guys call GT Distributors, Austin Store, they wil take a backorder on one of these units for you......There are currently ten units on that back order....the more, the merrier.

Well I fent to GT Dallas...Oh man, there was an A4 calling my name on display.
She is now my safe. Thanks guys for information. Now I need another reason to go back! |
|
I checkes the status of the backordered rifles and found out that the ten that were on backorder has been reduced to 3 on backorder. Not sure if some of these were filled with new product or if the rifles at the other locations were sold to fulfill the backlog. Either way, I am still waiting for my backordered unit.
|
|
The Dallas store had them on the shelves for weeks after I got mine...but that all ended after the DPD shooting. They are backordered again along with the only carbine that DPD authorizes as I understand (the 6920).

The rifles on Gunbroker are grossly overpriced....GT has the best deal on them and its fairly priced....just need to get them in...lol
I might pick up two once they come in.... |

Not wanting to sit back and wait for someone else to do it, I decided to call Colt direct and ask about the backlog of all things Colt. Spoke to a young guy, named Brian and he was a kick to speak with. He pretty much said that just about everything is on a backorder and that they are building rifles in batches. The Colt 6920, along with the new Expanse are the most popular of the Colt rifles, followed by the 6940 anf the then the A4.....however, Brian did say there was a renewed interest in the A4 as of late and they are looking to build another batch of them in the next month or so. Those of you on the wait list, if all goes well, should have your A4 by the end of November. Not holding my breath, but will look forward to the call from GT in the next 6 weeks or so. |

It's an ergonomics conversation past that point. That, and it's still hard to even find all the accessories with the new interface. I own none of them. If I owned a keymod, I'd likely just have a bunch of picatinny sections to bolt on, and at that point, why not just go with a picatinny rail? I am not knocking keymod, its a great idea, but it would have been better 15 years ago. I just think that it is redundant and more expensive to do the same thing. You get a more sleek handguard, but you pay about twice as much to adapt the existing picatinny stuff to it. Of course, this is coming from a guy who still buys URX's and RAS's, so take it as you will. |

With the looming election I wanna try and get one of these before it's to late but cannot find one at any gun shows or lgs. I would suggest you put in a backorder with GT dist. They have 10 on backorder and at last count 8 of them were spoken for. GT has a good standing with Colt. Otherwise, GB will charge you an arm and a leg. |

I called Colt...the production run for the Colt AR15A4 has been completed. The rifles are being readied for shipping. Not sure how many GT is going to be receiving, since they have not received confirmaton from Colt on the number being shipped to them. GT has 12 units on backorder and not sure how many more on order, which ae above and beyond the BO units.
Here's hoping they get confirmation sooner, rather than later. |
|
They will probably have others on hand besides the back ordered units. I got one with the June shipment. They had them on the wall and available for a good 1-2 months after that shipment was received. I was pretty surprised really that they didn't sell out quicker. Last time I was in there (a couple of weeks ago) - seems like all their Colt's had back order's being taken signs underneath them.
|
|
Awesome. Wonder if there'll be anything different with the configuration.
|
|
Just got off the phone with GT and the girl I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about when I asked if I could back order or be put on a notification list for one. She took my info but I'm not feeling to confident that I'll be notified
|
|
Call again, talk to someone else. I backordered one in August (with Robin if that helps).
I asked for an emailed confirmation. Was told they couldn't provide one but I was given a confirmation number. |

No money down needed. You don't even have to give a credit card upfront (although I did). I offered to prepay but they either couldn't or wouldn't charge before receiving new stock.
$949.95 + $15 shipping. |
