Didn't Colt years or decades ago make an AR-15 in 7.62x39? If so what do they cost now? How hard are they to find? And who made the magazines?

The only mags made now are by ASC. Hard to find the Colt AR's but there are several company's making 7.62 AR's currently. I built one using a PWS upper which runs flawlessly.

I had a preban Colt in 7.62x39. Ran like a raped ape with USA frankenmags. Do a search of my posts in the EE for the last year. I parted it out and sold off all the frankenmags. Easier way to see the posts is to check my feedback and look at the threads.

yes I have one right now, a carbine, preban. with less then 200 rounds through it. original box, mags etc. IM me if you want it. I have recently thought about selling it

mags were colt mags. 20 round bodies with blockers

I have a few CP products 30 rounders for it. they work fine,

The real issue with it was the mags.

Most of my childhood was spent blasting case after case of wolf out of such a rifle. It was my first hunting rifle, first 3-gun rifle, etc.

The only real issue is that reliable mags are hard to come by. My dad has three franken mags that he bought before the assault weapons ban that are essentially AR15 mag tops welded to an AK47 mag bottom. They work perfectly. I've had issues with the newer C-products mags.
I miss my firearms.

Colt manufactured the Sporter Lightweight 7.62x39 and Match Target 7.62x39 for about 5 or 6 years from 1993 until about 1998-99.

Magazines per se are not an issue, just higher capacity ones. I have built up a fair collection od different AR 7.62x39 specific magazines, from pre-ban USAs and Scherers to factory Colts and no-ban C-Products.

As much as I love my pair of 6830s, if I wanted a 7.62x39 AR to shoot these days I would buy or build a lesser, more affordable brand.

Saw one today on a shelf for $4,000 (panic buy pricing). It was cool, but a novelty.

I figure thats a fair price for one with the box. unless I decided to let the panic buy get the better of me and yank up the price.. dont know for sure yet

You sell it for that and someone else will buy it just to flip it.
