I too was a little disappointed at the $294 price, guess I don't have a choice.Since my manu date was 12/12.... I also was under the impression that they would " gift " me the adapter.... since I thought it was part of the weapon when I bought it ( my bad ).
Has anyone ever tried to get a 20" barrel made for this ? I'm working on it, i tried to get some information from Colt CS and they " refused " to provide any info. Their standard statement was " sir " we dont have that type of information " and there are " no aftermarket products that will fit this gun , we simply manufacture the weapon and sell it as is " ????? Not what I was expecting. |
|
|
When Colt started including the 5.56 adapter with gun, did they raise the price by $294, or is that an extra cost that early adopters have to pay to get something that now comes with the package, and should have been in there from day 1?

Cool. Nice work! I stuck a dowel in a 20rd mag. Works pretty good as well.

I also ordered the correct BDC dial for the M118 load I shoot in the 901. Never got to take a deer with it, but I spent a lot of time in the stand with it playing with the reticle. Here's some photos of the scope mounted on the 901. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/robertlee3rd/image-16.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/robertlee3rd/image-14.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/robertlee3rd/image-13.jpg One in the stand. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/robertlee3rd/image-12.jpg In Missouri, we are limited to a ten round magazine for deer hunting. Magpul shows a ten round mag on their website but is not selling them yet. I decided to cut down a Pmag for hunting and bench use. I cut the magazine body through the middle and ground down the top 3/8" of the outside of the lower piece, then ground down the inside of the bottom 3/8" of the upper piece so that they fit into each other. I epoxied the two pieces together, cut down the spring and reassembled the mag. I cut the mag to hold 7 rounds. I wanted it as short as I could and still get hold of it easily. It looks a little funny, but it works great. Much handier in a deer stand or on the bench. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/robertlee3rd/image-15.jpg ETA, sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. Damn, I don't know how much longer I can wait to buy this rifle. I want to pay cash for it, and halfway there, but I may buckle down and throw it in a CC through Clyde's. I just don't want to put it on my CC since it was after the holidays.

Once these are sold out you will have to wait until they produce them again. You know you want one! |

Yeah, I'd jump on that. I paid $2300 from Clydes + $300 for the adapter. This is $2500 shipped - don't think its going to get much better than that......

Hello all! I ponied up the $300 to get the adapter, I figure since I got my rifle for $1900 a year and a half ago, I can't bitch too much with how much they're selling for nowadays. Anyway I took it to my local range where I rented a Ruger SR-556, the design of the rail keeps it from interfacing with the adapter. at the recent local gun show, I must have fited 4 or 5 uppers to my 901 lower without any issue. So be warned for those hoping to get a cheap piston upper on the 901, the SR-556 is a no go.

I just got it back the first week of March. Using the same suppressor but I had to go with an SLR adj gas block. Colt replaced the upper receiver and barrel since it is modular and not replaced separately per Colt. It shoots great, but a word of warning ... Do not try to remove the flash suppressor or do any type of twisting to tighten or loosen anything with the gun assembled. Take the upper receiver off before doing any twisting such as removing or reinstalling flash suppressor or installing or removing a suppressor. You will stress the rear lug and the damage may not show up for awhile. And Colt does not have any spare parts. You will have to wait till they make a production run before getting any parts for repair. That is why it took from September of 2013 till March of 2014. I asked and they do not have short barrels nor any plans for one at the moment.

Brownells has a section that you can ask technical questions and a tech will get back to you. But from my experience. No tools work on the 901 that are for something else except maybe punches. This gun is a different beast. |
