I wish colt would’ve done a midlength 6940

I really want them to make the LE6940ae-3g that they teased about 5 years ago.

Colt even went crazy and did a fresh run of LE901 parts, including the long out-of-production 5.56 adapter (all sold out now; thankfully I got one!). I guess Chris was mistaken, they haven't abandoned their monolithic platform at all it seems. |

I think the LMT Patent May have expired since they have to pay LMT royalty fees for the ones they make |

I think the LMT Patent May have expired since they have to pay LMT royalty fees for the ones they make I got one of those too, 6944 but with an M4A1 SOCOM barrel modded to work with a 694x upper. Arms Unlimited mistakenly sold it to me as a regular 6944CK upper. Not that I minded, if I could buy a 6944HB I would have bought that instead! Worked out! |

No disrespect to LMT, but Colt did a waaaaay better job managing weight distribution of monolithic uppers, and the accuracy of Colt’s bone stock monolithic uppers is amazing. Can’t wait to see what comes out of not having to pay LMT royalties. |

I was shuffling carbines around in my safe to make room for the CR6940 when the urge hit me to do a quick group photo of part of my Colt Modular Carbine collection. All examples are 5.56mm. I'm looking for LE901, AR901 and CM901 .308 examples now.

Would something like LE6940ae-3g (maybe with mlok) not sell well? Maybe a version without the folding sights as well?
It seems appealing to me.. though I sold my LE6940 to fund a LE6920 Socom years ago when a got the cloning bug.. |

Man, I want one, but don't want their flip up sight or short carbine-esque rail. If they'd just extend it, they'd be pretty hot.

I'm sorry if the above info makes no sense. I'm kind of an idiot.

Just picked this one up..."used"
Never fired. It came with an optic....a $99 sightmark. A $1400 dollar rifle and the guy buys a $99 optic. Edit....mine did not come with a Matech. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I purchased a SA 6944SE in 2011. The difference in color between the phosphate finish on the barrel and on the SA flash suppressor is really only noticeable because of the camera flash. In natural light, it's very difficult to notice. |

|
Comparing the SAW 6944SE to a 6944 with A2X flash hider.
The 6944SE is slightly shorter, about 1/16”, maybe slightly less than that. The SE started off as a 6940 upper I took in trade. SAW did the SE and the RP packages for me. I’m not only impressed with the machine work, but the re-stamping of the barrel with factory markings. Attached File |

From what I see SAW does good work and the barrel re-stamp is impressive but they way they do the 14.5s with no crush washer(I know, not needed) it looks just as goofy as the A2x does.

While I do sometimes think the lack of a crush washer looks a little goofy, you don’t see it when you shoot it!!
The A2X doesn’t bother me in the least bit. |

So did the 6940s ship from Colt with Matech rear sights?
If/when I get one. I probably will have SA do this to mine. Looks like great work to me. |

Both of mine had Matechs.

This seems like the best place to ask what a never fired (outside the factory) LE 6940 without a box should cost me in today’s world and today’s dollars.
Please advise. If this is the wrong case please delete or ignore. Thanks |

Where in god's name are the barrel markings on these? All I can find, other than the cage code and M P 5.56 Nato 1/7 on end of barrel is an 'R' near the chamber under the rail.

That is all that there are unless you find a barrel date. R = Rosco which are great barrels. |

Last Colt I had, a 6720, had a date on the barrel. Not finding one on this barrel
