The A3 handles are bought as a forging & then we machine them. Our A3 handles are not castings, castings are not Mil Spec. The A3 handles would not meet the Mil Spec if we machined the carry handle until the underneith of the carry handle was perfectly smooth. Doing thet would also make that handle much thinner & more likely to break if hit or dropped.
The trigger guard assy is now plastic because; the aluminum if hit or dropped would break & cut your finger. The plastic would flex & possibly break, but would not cut the finger. The plastic trigger guard also has the built in plunger to make it easier to change. Either way the plastic trigger guard is Mil Spec & that's how we make em'.
As for Bushmaster not being mil spec, you cannot be a Govt Contractor if you do not meet the Mil Specs.
Cutting corners, I wish all of you could see the products that do not even make it through our QC Dept. Cutting corners is not how Bushmaster got to where it is today. What did get us here is: Quality Products, Outstanding Customer Service, Knowlegable Sales Staff to answer all types of questions, and selling our product at a reasonable price.
I wish you had sent it in, or will still send it in so I can take a look at it.
