Hey Vortex Rep,
I am planning on getting one of S&W's CORE full size M&P 2.0,.....whenever they come out with it.....and want to put either the Vortex Venom or Viper on it. I would like to use the iron sights that come with the pistol, and get as close to an absolute co-witness as possible. Would it be better to go with the Viper or Venom to do this, or how much of a difference would there be between the two? ? Also, what are the upsides to going with either Vortex choice? Thanks for the info! |

I was told over email the Viper is the preferred optic for that setup. I'm hoping a 2.0 CORE comes out as well.

I just won a Vortex Viper and as I don't use red-dot sights on my pistols...I will need a lower 1/3rd co-witness to mount on my CQD carbine. I would appreciate any guidance? I'm interested in shopping around, and something very rugged. I understand that Vortex 1/3 mount is made by Samson, do you know if this is made in the USA? If so i'll snatch one up. TIA

A bit confusing.... if I use the mount that comes with the Venom, and want to use a budget riser, what height do I need to do a lower 1/3rd on my AR with standard A2 iron sights?
I am wanting to do a order before the sales are gone so any info would be greatly appreciated. |

How do you access the locking screws of the Viper when it is mounted and co-witnessed on a M&P C.O.R.E.?
Is there a 90° angled screwdriver that will fit between the rear iron sight and the Viper? |

I've been searching far and wide for a good red dot set up for a CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 SBR.
I'm now considering the Razor or the Venom in 3 moa. I've found CZ Custom makes a Scorpion mount for the Venom (co-witness). What are mounting options for co-witness and/or a lower 1/3? Any help getting a Vortex red dot on my Scorpion is much appreciated. Bishop3 |

I'm looking for a mini sight to put on a Ruger 22/45 LITE. I'm looking specifically at the Venom and Viper. Any thoughts? Either would be mounted on the picatinny rail that comes with the gun.
It seems to me that an advantage of the Venom would be the battery being accessed on the top? But the Viper is a bit smaller/lighter? |

I'm running the Venom on my 22/45 lite and my Volquartsen Scorpion! I'd go with the 6moa!

I've been searching for a lightweight, non-QD mount option for the Venom on a PCC. Why don't any companies make mounts like this for Vortex reflex optics? Ideally I'd like something like the Scalarworks mount for the RMR. As long as the Fastfire has been on the market, you'd think something besides heavy QD or picatinny riser mounts would be available.

Hey guys, not sure if it has been brought up yet, but how will a Razor red dot hold up on an Ultimak? Also what kind of mounting options are available other than the factory mount?

Looking for some simple advice for use on AR15.
I am looking for a moderately priced Red Dot, not planning on any doing competition and considering either the Razor, Venom or Viper Vortex Red Dots. Am I correct with the assumption the Viper is more for handguns than AR-15? Does the Vortex AR15 Riser Mount with Quick Release work with all 3 Red Dots? From what I read on Vortex site, this is only for the Razor. Any suggestions on mounts for the Venom? What are the benefit of a riser mount? Thank you for any advice you can share.... |

Thoughts on the viper or venom for my new Walther PPQ M5 Match. Leaning to the 6moa with either one.
Any mounting issues I should be aware of? |

Check out my new Vortex Viper with Vortex's lower 1/3 QR lower mount made by Samson. Hope this helps anyone looking. Vortex Viper Red Dot Sight - 6 MOA Dot #VRD-6 The Viper is one of the more streamlined Micro Red Dot Sights (MRDS) I have handled. The glass has a slight blue tinge similar to the Aimpoint Micro T2 and optical clarity is exceptional. The "6" MOA dot appears to be 2 MOA when on lower settings and 6 MOA on brighter settings. The Viper seems a better alternative to earlier bulkier models of MRDS. The design is light and extremely rugged. The Windage and Elevation settings are lockable so you don't have to worry about losing zero, which is a great feature. For my needs I choose to purchase the Vortex MOUNT RISER-QR lower 1/3 co-witness mount that is compatible with both the Viper and the Venom models, for my M4 carbine. Vortex contracted with Samson to produce this high quality QR mount, I'm extremely happy with the combination. With the Vortex VIP warranty I have no concerns which is more than I can say for some other high end optic manufacturers with 1-5 year warranties which can leave you out in the cold.. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/SyPHERAO/untitled.png View Quote |

So other than dot size and the top load battery how do I pick between the Viper and Venom. What's the height difference? Is the field of view the same?
Have a few guns I need to outfit including a Ruger PC Carbine and probably a 22/45 or two. |

Have a few guns I need to outfit including a Ruger PC Carbine and probably a 22/45 or two. View Quote Really it's the overall form factor of the dot that is going to be the biggest difference other than the battery compartment placement. The Viper is a hair shorter in the back than the Venom, hence the reason it is the more common option on pistols where .1 inch can make a big difference depending on what irons you choose/prefer to run. FOV is about the same between the two - both of them have such a low profile housing that the aluminum portion around the glass all but disappears when shooting. In the end - if you're putting one on a pistol and it needs to be as low as possible, the Viper has to be your choice. Having a battery compartment underneath the sight really isn't ideal for ease of battery change when the time comes down the line, but it's a sacrifice many are willing to make if it means they get that super low height for co-witnessing. If it's a range gun, competition setup, or any other setup where you have the luxury of being able to calmly go back to your bag and swap a battery if/when your battery dies way down the line, then the Venom is a nice option because you aren't worried about co-witnessing in those cases and the top load battery is so much easier to get at. Does this help a bit? Jimmy H |

Sounds like the Venom is probably the better choice for me. Any chance you can get a measurement for dot height over rail height for both so I can compare it to what I have on hand.
