I'm thinking about picking up a Glock MOS and would like to know the differences between the Razor, Viper and Venom. I also have a PS90 and have never really been happy with the different optics I've tried. Which one of your 3 micro red dots would you recommend for these two applications?
The Razor will not fit into the cutout- you will want to go with the Viper or Venom for that. You will want to use the #1 plate to adapt it. Also, you will need suppressor sights to get the Viper to cowitness. For the PS90, the Venom or Razor would both be excellent choices. Thanks and let us know if you have further questions.

Since that post, I have heard some mixed results on this. Some people have called in and said it fit for them. Others called in and said that they weren't able to get it initially but chose to file the Razor slightly to get it to fit. I thought it would be better to recommend the Viper due to that fact but there's nothing wrong with the Razor for that application as long as you're aware that you might have to do some slight modifications. Thanks and let me know if you have further questions on this.

View Quote I could take my calipers and give you some measurements on the MOS plates and the factory mill work done by glock if you have a set to measure the razor with so we can compare results? I wouldnt give it a second thought and go for the viper, except I want a 3 moa dot, not a 6 moa. plus I cant find a viper in stock anywhere. If I did buy the viper instead are there any additional mounting accessories needed? for example the factory screws with a trijion RMR wont work, a special screw set has to be purchased. |
I just measured the Razor length with a caliper to be 1.835"long. On the website, we just round to 1.83" but it appears to be just a few thousandths longer than that.
The Viper will not be on the market until later this summer, at the soonest. The Viper will fit the size #1 plate for the MOS- the Burris Fastfire II plate. You will also want suppressor sights if you want to cowitness. Thanks and let me know if you have further questions! |

Awesome, well keep your eyes peeled when they come out! Should be out in a few more months. Thanks for the interest!

I would really like to see a flush fitting one piece mount for the 10/22 so I don't have to mount a picatinny rail on the rifle
then use another mount to mount it to that A once piece mount right to the rifle would be nice....imo I think there used to be such a mount for other RD's haven't seen them for a while... Scopeworks 10/22 mount for Aimpoint Micro |
That mount will actually fit the SPARC. I will definitely put in the recommendation for that style on other red dots, though. Thanks for the feedback!
I would not order from that company just yet can't find any phone numbers, contact info other than email, and no phone number?
Like their design though |
I pre-ordered the Venom Red Dot. Will this fit on my FNX 45 Tactical ??
The Venom will likely have to be modified to fit. I would strongly recommend the Viper red dot as an alternative for that application.
so, will the Viper fit w/o being modified? Is the 6moa reticle better for pistol applications then the 3.25moa??
The Viper will fit without being modified and I do prefer the 6 MOA dot for pistol application over the 3 MOA dot. Thanks and please let us know if you have further questions.

Vortex, I'm a big fan of your products. I've been looking at the venom/viper for months. The Venom came in stock at PrimaryArms but I was "thinking about it" and two days later they are gone!
I sold my razor red dot on ebay a couple of weeks ago in lieu of these coming out :). I have been mulling over the specs for the last couple of months but I don't understand why I cannot get a viper in 3MOA dot configuration. I am going to install this on an XDM 4.5" pistol. I like the small dot for shooting distance (steel plates at 50 yards). will there be a Viper 3moa come out eventually? When should all the stores have their first shipment of both the venom and viper? Thanks! |
Thanks for the interest! We really appreciate you giving us a look.
The Viper was designed for the cutout on a pistol slide and most users running the dot on a pistol wanted a bigger dot for added visibility. I can definitely pass along the feedback for you (I definitely see what you mean) but I'm not aware of plans to make a 3 MOA Viper at this time. Maybe your best option would be a dovetail mount instead for adapting a Venom instead of a Viper. The Venom has a 3 MOA dot but will not fit into most slide cutouts. The Venoms have gone out in some very small quantities and we will have more over the course of the next few months. The Viper will start shipping out in a few months. Thanks and please let me know if you have further questions. I would be happy to help. |
Thanks for the reply and info.
I'll pick up a venom when I find it. It suits my needs for now anyway since I need a slide mount. |
Perfect, it should match up nicely in the rear sight dovetail mount, but might have issues getting it to fit in a slide cutout. Thanks again and please let me know if you have further questions. I would be happy to help.

I believe we are talking about the same thing.
I'm going to buy the burris fastfire rear dovetail mount for it. You don't see any issues with that type of mounting system do you? |
Vortex, I just ordered the Venom from MidwayUsa and the Burris XD dovetail mount.
I am installing on an XDm 9.
Hoping to have this up and running this weekend! Thanks! |

Hoping to have this up and running this weekend! Thanks! View Quote Try the Burris screws first. If they don't work, try the ones that come with the Venom. We personally haven't run this setup so if you could pass along which screws you wound up using, that would be great! I would use loctite (blue only) on any screws you don't want to rattle loose :-) Just please apply in very small amounts. No specific recommended torque setting. I would just tighten them to about 16-20 inch pounds, if I had to take a guess. Just make sure not to strip the screws. Have fun! |
Thanks for the input. I have a wheeler FAT wrench, so I will torque to the 16-20 you specified. (which is the same recommendation you have on the scope rings, so I've been torquing those to 18).
Thanks for the input. I can't wait! |

The Viper seems a bit beefier than the venom or razor- is it just the camera angle?
I'm also considering some pistol applications- as it seems lower profile, it might be manageable on a dovetail mount plate. I saw where it has an auto-off function to conserve battery life- does it automatically power up with motion, or do the up/down arrows turn it on? Lastly, where is the product manufactured? Thank you! |
I'm about to purchase a venom but had a quick question/verification (it's fairly new, lack of reviews) ..
Does the Venom use a Burris Fastfire or Docter MRD form factor for attaching screw on mounts? Thank you! |

The Viper is made in China, the Venom is made in the Philippines, and and Razor is made in Japan. Let em know if there is anything else you'd like to know. Thanks! |

I'm currently awaiting the Vortex Viper Red Dot release. I'm excited about it but the release date has been quite mobile. Has anything been partially confirmed for a particular month yet, like Aug or Sept release? Also, it does come with a Picatinny rail adapter correct? Also, I will be mounting this to a custom rail/scope mount for my Glock 23 Glock Scope Mount and was wondering how much adjustment does this Red Dot have? I just want to make sure that i'll be able to get on target for as close as 15ft+ with as high above the bore axis the sight will be.

Hello,
Thank you for your interest. We are still aiming for a late summer early fall release for the Viper. It does indeed come with a pic/weaver mount. The sight has 120moa of adjustment. Assuming everything with the gun and mount are straight you technically should be ok. However their is no way to guarantee the trueness of the mount/gun/barrel alignment. The only way to know for sure is to try it. Hope that helps. Best Regards Scott |

Any of these good to go for a .308?
Considering having one on an offset mount for quick transition shooting. |
I ran a RZR with an RT-45 mount on an AR 10, and it did just fine.

Quoted: I have a custom CNC mount for my glock gen 4 I purchased recently. Having a good chunk of milling work done at moment. I am also utilizing this as a suppressor setup with a match threaded barrel. I am looking fwd to the Vortex Viper coming out but I am also looking at the Venom as well. Is there much difference? I am including a picture of mount below. Should I go ahead and buy the venom or wait for the viper? How is the size comparison? I want to go with the one that puts me the closest to the bore axis with the included picatinny adapter. thanks! http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l272/southkhaki19/Glock%2017%20Suppressor%20Setup/20150719_185817.jpg View Quote |

I got Venom today at a SWEET price from OpticsPlanet. ....with $15 online coupon ($15 off over $150: 72CCDFA) that I found in Google, I paid only $214 (free shipping!. With this quality, tough build and the famous warranty - it would not even consider Burris. |

Any update on the Vortex viper red dot? I can't possibly believe the product has been shelved for good! It has slight upgrades over the vortex venom but not as expensive as the Razor that I'd love to have. Was there a particular reason for the indefinite shelving of the Viper red dot?
