Looks like the 3" offset to me. Not sure how much further you're going to get it without touching both rails.

I pre-ordered mine at OpticsPlanet, emailed about it on Monday, and they said mid-to-late July shipping.
Now to get a mount for it. |

Any chance of making this with other reticles, particularly just a standard duplex?

I was wandering around a local sporting goods store and saw they had a few of these on the shelf, so I picked one up. I mounted it to a rifle and been messing around on the deck, aiming at object up close to about 300 out. I am happy with the glass, especially for the price point. Illumination is great as well in the daylight.
I just have a question for others that have looked thru theirs on 1x with both eyes open. Are you able to aim without seeing a double image/target? I could be off, but on 1x, the target appears to be actually smaller or less than 1x. I tried zooming in in small increments, but am still seeing double. As a side note, I have a Mark 6 1-6 and don't have this problem. Just curious what other users are finding, and trying to determine if it's my eyes and brain or the Vortex itself. thanks! |
|
From a post at SH by Scott from Vortex:
"If you are not getting a true 1x out of it you might not have your diopter set just right. If it appears to be less than 1x try bringing the diopter(eyepiece) out a little until it is a true 1x. If it appears to be more than 1x try screwing the eyepiece in a bit until it is a true 1x." |

I shoot nose-to-charging handle, not sure which mount I am looking at just yet. Yes the website says 3.5" and it seems correct to me. I shoot NTCH and recommend something with around a 3" offset. My preferred mount is the extended Bobro mount. I have 2 of these for my Razor HD 1-6, and IMO these are the best mounts. Vortex is also selling these now. I got mine before they started selling them though. I switched from another brand, and the Bobro IMO is the best mount because I like the BLAC lever system better which requires no manual adjustment to lock it to the rail. I like the lever system (with the safety) better. I also like the that the ring mount bolts are horizontal and not vertical. FTR I have the newer version with the ring bolts on top not on bottom. The mount is rock solid and the quality is awesome. Have not removed it and checked the RTZ, but will add, if I did, I would make sure to verify before shooting in a match. I have heard the the RTZ is excellent though. Bobro QD extended mount I went with the Vortex cantilever mount w 3" offset for my Strike Eagle, and its perfect. Its mounted on my 22LR AR. Here's a pic from Vortex's website. I will get you a pic of my set up today or tomorrow. I wanted the Bobro, but at this time figured I could buy $100 + of 22LR ammo to practice with vs spending the extra money on the Bobro. I might swap it out when I find a good deal on a used Bobro. Vortex cantilever mount 3" Getting the 3 offset IMO gives you more versatility in mounting it a little further on the rail, and not having to worry about bridging between the upper and the rail. If you want to run the LaRue, I suggest the SPR-E |

Any chance the AC11024 or any other non-KillFlash Tenebraex® Flip Cap set (which is designed for the 1-6x24 VCOG) will fit the Strike Eagle? The objectives are both going to be 30mm, but I'm not aware how the cap adapters actually mount.

Does the tip above the 20-200 yard crosshair represent anything? Thanks. View Quote I'd like to know the answer to this as well. The reticle appears to be more or less the same BDC you would find on a ta01 series acog, minus the 100 yard main crosshair. The top of the small notch above the 200 yard stadia looks like it would represent 100 yards based the amount of drop. |

Quoted:The top of the small notch above the 200 yard stadia looks like it would represent 100 yards based the amount of drop. This is correct Then my next question is (for Vortex or anyone who wants to chime in) why is it recommended to zero at 50 yards using the 200 yard stadia and call it the 20-200 hold? Wouldn't it be better for the shooter to use the tip of the 100 yard notch for a 100 yard zero and then use the BDC stadia lines at their respective ranges? Or is there something i'm missing about this reticle? |

I just pre-ordered mine from B&H photo. Expected in stock 07/08/15. Anyone who is still wanting to pre-order one of these might want to consider getting it from them. I bet they don't have nearly as big a back-order list as the more popular optic sites and B&H photo is an excellent retailer.
Included with pre-order through B&H is free 3 day shipping, a set of Smith optics eye pro and a $25 gift card. So i'll be going back to them for $25 off my mount! |

Those who purchased before the live inventory appeared have been getting ship notices also. Who knows when they will get another delivery.
