After reading the PDF owner manual from the Vortex website, I was unable to locate information regarding battery life. Likewise, is there a "off" setting for the illumination? View Quote It's tough to give a battery life as depending on setting used and the batteries it might be different. My Razor 1-6 battery gets changed once a year whether it needs it or not so I know it's good but it's never been dead and I have left it on all day at 3 gun matches. There is a "0" setting on the illumination knob which is on the left side of the turret housing. You can see it in the pics on the Vortex site. |

April-May time frame would be a rough estimate when we expect to see them start to ship. I would recommend putting in a pre-order with a dealer to help shorten up potential wait time. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. What is the expected release date? I'm not necessarily after a hard date to come back and complain about later, just a way to plan ahead for range time and, for some, competition planning. I have a new rifle built for 3 gun I hope to put this on. The sooner the better. My dealer is suposed to have one ordered for me. |
|
We will get them out as fast as we can! Thank you for the interest on this scope. We appreciate it.

Quoted: It's tough to give a battery life as depending on setting used and the batteries it might be different. View Quote It truly isn't. Battery chemistry for button cells doesn't vary significantly. Even if it did, one simply specifies mAh for the test. The testing party places a variable output device on its lowest setting with a new battery, then leaves the unit on until useful illumination ends. The test is repeated at the maximum output of the device. The range, in time, is the battery life at those settings. A thorough test might produce a curve at each possible output level, but that's usually unnecessary for sales. Typically, revealing a device operates for X amount of time at its lowest setting and Y amount at its highest is useful enough for the consumer. Anecdotal results often lack sufficient detail to be useful. |
|
With an average temp of 60-70 degrees F, we estimate battery life to be about 125-150 hours on full intensity.

I carry spare batteries in my gear and change them if they die before my yearly change. But Vortex got you an answer. |

Thinking about pre-ordering one for my 308 SBR.
Any recommendations on the best way to dope the BDC for different loads? ETA: Also, any chance we could see the turrets uncapped? If no pictures are readily available, are they similar to the Razor 1-6? Thanks! |
|
There is a picture on the Vortex website of the turrets uncapped
http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-strike-eagle-1-6x24-riflescope-ar-bdc-reticle You can use the Vortex LBRC to figure the holds for the BDC reticle. I just ran my known load through a ballistic program and then looked where there MOA lines on the reticle lined up for my load. With the 200 yard zero at center crosshair my lines going down are not 300, 400, 500 and 600 but 285, 375, 475, 575, if I am remembering correctly on that last line. At work and don't have data. Below is the reticle showing how many MOA down each line is on the reticle from the crosshair. |

Ok so I FO'd on a pre-order from DSG. I'm slapping this puppy on my 12.5" 308 when it comes in. I can't wait!

That's awesome- I've hunted yotes with the Plain boys before. Those guys sure know what they are doing! I think it would be a good option for you on that build, too. Thanks again for the interest! View Quote I've been doing a ton of research and this sounds like a great first scope for me. How can I pre-order? Do I need to pay in full or just a deposit down and what is the expected shipping times? Thanks! |
|
Thanks for giving us a look! Many dealers are already accepting pre-orders so I would check them out. SWFA for sure and I think Eurooptic, A&A Optics, etc. are all allowing pre-orders but you would have to check with them to be sure.

I see DSG Arms had it for $329.99 is that a discounted price for pre-ordering or is that the retail price? I was thinking it was closer to $400 for some reason? |

That is retail (MAP) price. The higher price you're thinking of is MSRP. Most people sell at MAP instead of MSRP. Thanks and let us know if you have further questions.

That's awesome! Thanks for choosing our glass and let me know if you need anything else!

I'm very excited about this scope. I'm hoping to be rocking on one my 3-Gun rifle this year.
|
|
Well..went to SWFA and pre-ordered one. Hopefully it will be out in spring in time for some local matches. I've been looking for a little more magnification and this just may fit the bill!!

Right now, we are looking at late Summer as just a rough estimate- July/August time frame as a rough estimate. That is only an estimate, though. It's open to potential change.

No, not at this point. Right now, we are looking at late-Summer. I apologize for the shift. All ETAs are open to potential change.

Thank you for being patient with us, though. We really appreciate it.

Pretty sure I'm gonna replace my old 3-9x32 on my AR with this when it's released, I hope it's soon!!!
P.S. any thought on different reticles? (i.e. duplex, mil dot, single dot) |

We will have to see how the original one does and go from there- but we are always open to suggestions! Thanks and let me know if you have further questions. I would be happy to help. |

Glad to see this. I just ordered a sparc 2 today for a price I couldn't turn down ($168). This will be my next scope ordered once it's out. If it was a 1-8 though, it would be even more awesome!!!

Looking forward to this scope being available. I've been slenderizing my SPR-clone, next thing to go is the cheap Millet 4-16x50 that is on it, thing is heavy!

What are some of the tests you guys run on these in regards to shock proof, water proof standards? Is there videos anywhere of torture tests or something similar with this scope? I love every Vortex I have owned that was Viper or above, but I am not sure about the lower lines. I am more concerned about reliability than optical quality.
Thanks |
|
We test them to 1000g’s for the shock testing. Waterproof testing is done at the factory to ensure they are fully submersible. We don't have any videos to share for the torture testing procedures but I'm sure once they release, there will be no shortage of independent reviews from the field. Thanks and let us know if you have further questions. I would be happy to help. |

Reticle subtensions are fairly close for my 16" 6.5 Grendel with a 100 yard zero based on the data provided by my Shooter app.
For Wolf Gold 120 gr. MPT and Wolf 100 gr. FMJ: The first one (2.4 MOA) comes in at 207 and 211 yards respectively. The second (5.6 MOA) comes in at 300 and 306 yards respectively. The third (9.5 MOA) comes in at 395 and 401 yards respectively. The fourth (14.6 MOA) comes in at 499 and 505 yards respectively. I think I found the next scope for my 16" Grendel. |

Nice! That's some good info to have. Thanks for sharing that with us.

My LaRue/Umbrella Corp build is anxiously awaiting the Strike Fire for its completion.

Ordered my Strike Eagle at Optics Planet yesterday........summer can't come fast enough!

A big thank you to all who have put in pre-orders. We really appreciate it!

Now is a good time to put one on backorder at Optics Planet, 10% off site-wide and free shipping.

Just ordered through Optics Planet. At that price and free shipping, I ordered two. Total cost was under 600.00 I hope the turn out as good as advertised. Can't wait to get them.
