Not crazy. Ordered a 6.5G but with the 10.5 rail. I'm thinking of using a 12" 5.56 barrel with the 10.5, then putting that on my LaRue SBR lower. The 6.5G then goes on a tOBR. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Only thing is the 6.5g is an m4 cut receiver extension and the tar isn't... I was thinking the same thing because I don't have any keymod or m-lock stuff. Just not sure if I swap them how reliable it will be. ETA I really wat to drop the 6.5g in my tOBR as well View Quote |

For the 6.5g barrel... but I wanted to move the (rifle cut) 5.56 tAR barrel over to the new (m4 cut) upper kit. I'm pretty sure I'd need another barrel for that.

Heading to the range tomorrow, assuming weather is decent. I think I'll play around with some 5 shot groups and also see if I can outshoot the shootist.
Mark, I liked it so much I ordered the ultimate AR to match it. Figured I'd save the money on assembly so hopefully the one I put together will shoot as well as my first one. Do we get hats that say ultimate AR? |

The 123 ELDM is back in stock at buds. Just ordered a few hundred more rounds.

Mr. Larue. First I want to say I own 2 of your rifles. 5:56 and a 7.62 tobr .They are of Outstanding quality. For a while I have been thinking of buying a 6.5 Grendel in a lightweight 16 inch barrel configuration. I don't hunt so as nice as the 18inch looks it probably wont work for me. I wanted to upgrade my 5:56 stable to a 6.5 grendel basically in a do it all fighting rifle. My question is, are there any plans to release a version in a 16 inch barrel? If not, would cutting the barrel down basically ruin the rifle? Please forgive me if this question sounds ignorant but I like your companies quality but I just wanted the bigger and longer punch that the Grendel caliber offers. Thanks in advance.
Also unrelated. I think I would like to switch from the TOBR in 7.62 to either 260 Remington or 6.5 creedmore. I don't know if you offer the barrels separately or if I have to sell mine and repurchase? |

View Quote Also, I am not saying this is a problem because I honestly do not know, but the 6.5grendel barrels currently have m4 feed ramps. tOBRs use rifle extensions. Just keep that in mind. As for having the 18" cut to a 16" I wouldn't bother doing that. Just wait for a 16" or deal with the extra 2". After all, it's not like in NJ you can add a suppressor Reason is I have seen some incompetent gun smiths mess up a thread and crown job. If you must search arfcom. There are a few venders on here that do real quality work. Don't want to mess up a high dollar precision upper on a back room thread job. |

With a little luck the HPA with pass soon. I bet when it does you will see a run on cans like there was on .22 ammo a few years back and prices on EE double what they are now.

With the number of companies coming on line doing them and after looking at a few broken down I would guess it wouldn't be that tough. Along with the tractor, I also picked up my Cousins Miller 250 and it does TIG.....I just don't have the skills. Is it legal to build your own as it is to build your rifle? View Quote |

Teaser for a range report to follow later today... ETA - A very smooth and soft shooting rifle. And, there were no gas issues running with or without the suppressor, or blowback when using the suppressor. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/IMG-5529-1-271447.jpg View Quote |

I was living vicariously through shooting buddy #2 today. He ordered a 6.5G and surprised me by inviting me out to the range to put a few down range. Excellent LaRue workmanship and I have to say the FDE coating on this rifle is superb; I was fondling the darn thing it was soooooo purdy! The rifle handled very well and it shot so smooth you almost didn't know you were firing a center fire. I was back on target quickly and firing the next, then the next round. We had three of us shooting so the targets had lots of shots as we were each shooting a load (the Hornady 123g ELDM or the McCort 120g OTMs) at the same POA, but we did track the shots. We shot both suppressed and unsuppressed. The barrel doesn't have too many rounds through it yet, so I'm guessing it will speed up a bit. The Hornady was shooting about 2 MOA high as it was sighted for the McCourt. Here are the MVs: Hornady Black, Unsuppressed - 2485fps with a SD of 9fps. Hornady Black, Suppressed - 2485fps with a SD of 8fps. McCourt OTM, Unsuppressed - 2307fps with a SD of 15fps. McCourt OTM, Suppressed - 2314fps with a SD of 15fps. We were at the local IWLA range in Stafford, 100yards, 85* and direct sun, 1-3mph winds. Humidity was probably in the 65-70% range. Shooting buddies dag - Gracie - she was hitting the mud pool and having herself a great time. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/IMG_5511-1_JPG-271592.jpg Found some wildlife: https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/IMG_5534-1_JPG-271599.jpg Shooting buddy #3 had the best shirt of the day: https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/IMG_5535_JPG-271600.jpg LaRue 6.5G in FDE with the Burris option; his TQ will be in jail for sometime. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/IMG_5520-1_JPG-271593.jpg https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/IMG_5521-1_JPG-271594.jpg Next to a bigger brother. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/IMG_5524-1_JPG-271595.jpg With my TQ attached. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/IMG-5529-1-271447.jpg Some groups I shot. Hornady 123g ELD-Ms. I have to say it was hard for me using a 6x scope where the center of the reticle basically covered the dot at 100y. I did okay, but older eyes like higher magnification. That's my way of saying I would have done better if I had moar power. [/bad excuse off] You can see how much higher the Hornady is hitting than the POA (dot) due to the velocity difference from the McCourt. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/Hornady_123-271597.jpg Hornady suppressed with dot as POA. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/Hornady_Suppressed-271598.jpg The McCourt unsuppressed. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/52736/McCort_Ed-271596.jpg Overall, this was a great shooter! I got mine out to the range today shooting the Hornady 123 ELD. My first three groups were very bad. then I put on the Tranquillo and group sizes shrunk considerably. Shot with with the included Burris 1.5-6 at 100 yds. The first two targets were shot on someone else's leftover targets while I was waiting for ceasefire to put up fresh targets. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-2k98Qw3/0/01cbb2fe/M/i-2k98Qw3-M.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-5f2kWPW/0/37369bee/M/i-5f2kWPW-M.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-6THtGkx/0/3e3500e7/M/i-6THtGkx-M.jpg Here they are with the suppressor https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-xWZT2wK/1/eb539147/M/i-xWZT2wK-M.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-MQ4xrbT/1/fe98ac01/M/i-MQ4xrbT-M.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-Q7294Xx/0/908f445e/M/i-Q7294Xx-M.jpg Any thoughts on why such a big difference with suppressor? I was using an Horus Tremor2 reticle (didn't adjust the turrets). Thankfully, that takes 1 possible issue out of the list. I tried to input the Truing MV based on the ambient temperature and maybe I did it wrong... O well, need to go out and true again. It was fun getting easy hits on a 10in plate with a 300 win mag, .308, and 5.56 Tobr at 630 yards. The 5.56 was just before transonic. I'm looking forward to comparing the grendel, for sure. Anybody have any issues with the elander 17 rnd mag?
First time using it and out of 4 mags it failed to feed the 2nd to last round 3 times. Running the ELD ammo. Of course one was when I was doing the moa all day target and it hosed my group. |
