I'm not in the BuildAR list (unfortunately) but I have been able to get two Stealth 2.0 uppers from the EE, one in RO and one in black. The RO one I got along with an RO lower so I could ave a whole RO rifle, but the color differences bothered me so much I sold it. The black one I just got was extremely dry and greyer than black, but a healthy dose of CLP brought it to life. My question, however, is regarding the fit of the 2.0 upper to the Larue lower. To me, there is a pretty harsh edge on the horizontal edge where the upper meets the lower, like the 2.0 upper is thinner at that point than the lower is. I have a Spikes forged lower that I put the Stealth upper on to see if it was the same and the fit is much better and actually is very nice. Was the Stealth 2.0 designed more to be used with forged lowers?

Here's mine.
Rights side is noticeable. Left side mag well is a shelf and above the safety is just enough to catch a finger nail on. Attached File Attached File |

The bottom pic is exactly what I'm talking about; the edge there above the magwell where the upper and lower meet. It just seems very odd to have a Larue product with such a poor match (I won't say fit because the upper and lower certainly fit together very tightly) at a joint. That's why I am wondering aloud whether the Stealth 2.0 was made more for use with a forged lower. I will try to get a pic of the 2.0 on my Spikes forged lower tonight. |

The original stealth upper's lines match a forged lower, particularly Cerro (key hole) lowers, much better than the Billet LaRue. Actually there is not much for line matching of LaRue's upper and Lower.
Now the 762 OBRs match perfectly. An then they went with the Predat OBR at the rear. Attached File |

I have been watching for uppers to pop up forsale but have missed them all I guess.

Agreed. I ended up selling it on the EE. I feel bad for you guys in the list that still haven't received anything. I've bought and sold two Stealth 2.0's on the EE. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Got the upper in a few weeks ago for my bud, he had a chance to inspect it. Unfortunately he wasn't impressed, I'm dumping the upper and lower for him on the EE. The fit was nice and tight, they just don't match. Damn shame.

The worrying about lines not matching up on beauty queens or the fact that lines aren't matching up? The tOBR uppers in 5.56 are the same as far as lines not matching with the upper/magwell area and on the right side. The side dimensions on the heavies not lining up was kinda goofy to me too. It all comes down to once you get behind your optic, you can't see it and sure as Hell aren't worried anymore. |

View Quote For the reputation Larue has and the cost of their products they should match. I am sure I will still love my upper but I do not understand how a company who is know for fit and finish designs an upper that in no way matches up. |

I've had my Stealth 2.0 upper and LaRue lower for a couple of months and I haven't noticed anything off. All I know is it locks together really tight and shoots really straight. Good enough for me.

If you don't care how they fit and if the finish looks like shit, why not just buy something from PSA for what, 1/5th the cost? At least with PSA I buy it knowing full well I won't be impressed. The receivers have fuck all to do with accuracy but for me, I dropped the coin and waited a year for it to be perfect. I mean everyone says it's worth the wait and you wait longer because of the precision and attention to detail right? |

I'm a LaRue fanboy, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed in the way the Stealth 2.0 mates to a lower. It puzzles me why they would leave such a gap. Maybe it's like a brake duct to keep the buffer spring cool.
For comparison, here is one of my 5.56 tAR's. The "lines" don't necessarily match, but at least the end of upper receiver is the same basic shape as a lower. |

So, you can basically see the buffer tube with the upper pinned to the lower? |

That pic does not look great. Maybe the flat sides are easier to machine but the lines on the old are better.

I have a safe full of factory rifles and some lowers waiting on 2.0 uppers. Maybe they will introduce a Stealth 1.0 upper receiver in RO. Something that will mate up with the RO lower I bought. I don't mind the lines but that gap. |

The ejection port side looks nice, in my opinion. I'm still trying to reconcile with the other. I've noticed several other die-hards quickly placing theirs on the EE.

Maybe the upper design team and the lower design team need to get together for lunch.

I am currently waiting on my first Larue rifle... a tobr 5.56 in fact. Am I understanding correctly that folks are seeing this with the tobr lower and uppers as well? Or is it just the stealth?

View Quote it appears the 2.0 design and the TOBR design in the 556 are similar, the stealth uses the more rounded receiver profile common to most standard AR15 pattern uppers the reason the lower overhangs at that area is due to LaRue using 1 lower pattern in the AR15 size. Knowing now that the TOBR line has the same thing, I would say this is normal and expected. Depending on brand of lower used, the gap may be more or less, but shouldn't affect function. |
