Ok, NightForce 5.5 x 25 F1 an Prime ammo are inbound. Everything will be ready when the .260 gets here.
Meanwhile the CMP delivered a six digit WWII M1 to my house today, December 7, 2016. Just so happens that this particular M1 receiver was built at the Springfield Armory in December, 1941. As a coincidence my grandfather was in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. As another coincidence the first time I left active duty to return to college was December 7, 1985. Just a bit of old soldier trivia to pass the time while we wait for our new rifles. Fr8dog |

I will try to get some pics up.
My research of the serial number turned up one other interesting bit of trivia. This rifle is less than 300 serial numbers removed from the personal M1 of Major General Julian S. Hatcher. General Hatcher is the author of “The Book of the Garand” and “Hatcher’s Notebook” among others. A graduate of Annapolis he transferred to the Army coast artillery and eventually wound up as Chief of Ordnance Field Service. General Hatcher was instrumental in sorting out the M1’s teething problems. |

Those are some BEAUTIFUL rifles, wow.

Thank you.
All of my heroes (family) carried M1s. I have always had a soft spot for the big soft shooting 30-06. It might be the reason why all of my LaRue rifles are chambered in 7.62. I built the 1942 M1 at the CMP Advanced Maintenance Class. It was a very enjoyable experience. I hope to get a chance to attend the LaRue Armorer's Class. |

Well, I'm jealous of them. Now back to wondering when my .260 might show up...

So mark has said some will be shipped for Christmas,so if this happens some should be getting shipping info pretty soon or if nothing else we are now in the fabled Larue 2 weeks

Maybe the DOD placed an order and the timeline has to shift?

So by what magic are they getting 10,000 rounds of barrel life out of the .260?

Given the round, burn rate of the powder, pressure and velocity in the 2800FPS range, I would think you'd burn out the throat by 5,000rds or so. I'm patiently waiting for my 22" 260 and will do my best to test the barrel life. |

Well Christmas has come and gone, looks like the election order Rush has stalled out the 260's rolling out the door. Maybe mark will throw us a bone and let the forum know when he will be getting the 260's out. No real rush as the ground is white with snow and frozen solid and I don't think I'll be taking it to the indoor range. Off to get some more reloading supplies Pete |

Maybe pre-election there was going to be a push and now post back to the original timetable? No matter to me . . . Other items to buy in prep (optics, reloading equipment) and getting it as a gift to myself for paying my tax bill works for me. |
|
|
I was told to expect 6-12 months when I ordered on 9/3...later on when I called to put a gift card on the order was told to expect 12+ months...
May as well have told me 2 weeks...its all the same... |

I love my 260. It's pretty much my grail rifle, though I would love the longer barrel too with it to compare.
Sadly I haven't gotten to the range in a bit due to the business, so I sometimes think of letting it loose so someone else can enjoy it. |

Spoke to the shop Friday to apply some gift cards to my order and while sales guy was not committing, he did say it could be the middle of the year before we see our 260's. |

I refinished the 2011 M1A. I sanded it down with 400 and then 600 grit. Then applied three coats of Deft oil which was sanded with 0000 steel wool between each coat. The 03 was finished by Dean at DGR before he passed away. Missing from the picture are a NM M1 and a 1943 Rock-ola M1 carbine. |
