That or wipe the thing down with a silicone cloth. Mine had a few discolorations, but nothing like yours on that front lug hole. Weird. |

That's oil or smudges. Mine has similar spots where it was handled and around the pins after assembly. Even just the oil on my hands left residue |
|
|
These arent smudges from what I can see and feel.
The pivot pin hole is a definite drip mark. I will oil it up and see how she does, regardless. I will note, however, that I'm not bothered by it. I didnt buy it for the color. In all honesty, I thought I had bought a black one anyway. It'll still work when I put it together. Colors and coatings dont effect functionality for me. |

I picked my RO lower up from my FFL today and I'll admit I really like the Reardon Oxide finish....It's unique....Reminds me of oil on water or Pearlesense paint....When you rotate it in the light you get variations of color unlike any other finish I've ever seen on a firearm....
....Now I know why it was so hard for others to describe it..... |

Picked up my RO lower from the FFL yesterday and gave it a bath in CLP last night.
I did notice similar oil spots or smudges to what was shown in the pics a couple posts up, but they appeared to be gone after the oil bath. |

Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.
|
The finish on my RO lower is flawless but it does smell and is fairly sticky, kind of like an item that's been freshly painted. I know this is an oxidized finish. Any of you guys experience the same?

Got some bare aluminum now...so Im going to duracote it. I had checked at my FFL against his ceracoat wheel o' fun, but i decided to oil it up last night.I took a before/after oil pic for comparison. Same spot, same lighting. Its more of tan/straw color with oil on it...so no im not sure on the color to try and match again. Its going to have that "SCAR FDE" look whether i like it or not! Good news: FFL received the 2nd qtr order yesterday, including the lower, MBTs and LT845 with sizing rings. Bad news: he's "out of pocket" until Monday, so not gonna get to trial the Radius this weekend. Oh well. 1st world problems.

No hat/bumper stickers/dillo dust/dillo/Pocket Constitution in the box when I got the order from my FFL but damn if that lower and mount aren't a pretty sight to see! The lower is a work of art. I'm not sure if Mark/LT licensed the SMOS design for in house production after going with them in 2008 or if you refined it a bit and are having them made by SMOS on your behalf to your specs or if it's complete departure from the SMOS lowers that were out in 2008... but the little features in the design like the extra indentation for the ejection port door detent hump to fit into really show the attention to detail I've always appreciated from LT's products. Well done. The LT845 is built like a tank. I may end up putting it on my Remington 700 or if the BuildAR group ever turns into a SIETE project... Thanks again for making great products Mark, and for the BuildAR list! |

Oh I wonder if I worked for UPS
Would I likely know the difference twixt east and west And if that address from the east weren't also west would I throw a mean exception or just try my best To see that little 'E' in front of the address on the street that I was on but just too far west And take the wanted package to its hopeful rest Or make the poor sap wait until next week... And thanks, Mark; this was not a Larue or my error, just UPS doing it thing... |

Just picked up my RO lower and its a thing of beauty. The only 'imperfection' if I was so bold as to call it that is a tiny bit of silver showing in the recess for the rear takedown pin head. So much cleaner and nicer than the generic lower my homebuilt Stealth upper is sitting in (though this lower is reserved for the list Q1 upper still backordered).
Its too nice for my generic LPK (less trigger). What should I get (brand/model wise)? I'm going with Larue UDE pistol grip and stock, and a MBT of course. I'm ok with black for the other visible parts unless there's a good quality better color match set available. Thanks |

Just applied a $100 gift card to my Q1 order (still backordered). It was going to go on Q2 but Larue beat me by shipping Q2 before the gift card arrived. I'm going to do that every 2-3 weeks on this and Q3 if possible to defray the big one-shot bill on the CC when either ship.
Thanks to those who answered my earlier questions in this regard. If it still takes a while for Q1 (or Q3) to ship I won't have a big CC charge hanging over my head. |

What larue freebies did your buildAR come with? I just picked up my lower and the only thing in the box was 1 MBT sticker, the lower and 2 triggers. I think every order I have ever placed has had a dillo, hat, and/or dillo dust in it. I just want to make sure the FFL didnt help himself to the goodies.
