I'm glad that's what I ordered. I went with 20" for the velocity, but it's nice to see that group. Might be awhile before I get it built, though. I'm gathering parts for a few builds simultaneously, and other projects that have been on the back burner are needing attention too. |

Website does not say anything about what size gas tube you need. Mid length, carbine, rifle? In the 16" barrel?

Amazing! Mark, Thanks for helping to ARM real Americans. I just finished putting together my 14.5" Stealth (paid for $) bbl SBR on a Mega lower/upper/handguard and an MBT.
I hope I win one, give me another reason (as if I really needed one) to build another. A Patriot can't have too many Rifles! |

Well, I must have done something wrong. After 100 rds, my 20" Stealth isn't shooting very well. I did the shoot and clean break in thing for 25 rds, and shot groups up to 40 rds. I was getting groups of .5" high by 3" wide. So I took it home and cleaned for 2 hours. I tried again today., and was still not grouping well. By 75 rds it was starting to settle down, so I cleaned it again, and tried some better ammo. 75gr A-Max loads that shoot well in my Savage showed promise, but I still have a problem. the first group after cleaning at 75 rds had 3 in 1 hole, the fourth less than 1/2" away, and a flier 2" to the left. The next group had 2 flyers, the third had a flyer 3" from the rest, which were a less than 1/2" group. I did get 1 really nice 5 rd group, but the next made up for it with 2 flyers. The flyers are always to the left of the main group. I suspect it is the same thing that caused the initial horizontal stringing. But I don't know what could be causing it.
I did all the groups with no hand guards, with the rifle supported by the barrel nut(It's an A2 build). I even tried removing the front sight and gas tube and still had erratic groups. I'll try removing the barrel from the upper and re torquing it next.I don't know what else to try. If I hadn't seen several 4 shot groups at 1/2 inch, I would assume it was a normal AR barrel, and just keep it as a simple A2 build with low expectations of accuracy. But I'm pretty sure it will be a great barrel if I can figure out what I did wrong when I put it together. I was hoping to do a real trigger, if I can figure out where to get one, and do a national match free float tube with A2 hand guards. A Stealth accuracy build if you will. If I can get it to shoot. Is there any thing I could be missing? |

It is probably something stupid like a piece of dirt between the upper and barrel. And Thanks again for the contest. I will be ordering a trigger to go with it soon. |

Any more info on the not so accurate groups? I just want to be sure I put mine together properly the first time. Not my first build, but it is the first one with a high quality barrel.

View Quote I'm sure it's not the barrel. I had several 4 and 1 5 shot group under .5 inches. I'm guessing there was a burr or piece of carbon on my crappy upper. I took it apart and re installed the barrel nut, and it tightened up to one notched past where it was last time. It could also be the crappy Simmons scope I stole off the 10-22 to try it out. It will get a better mount, a Super Sniper scope, and a free float system before I am done. |

Just curious how long these take to ship out? I am in no rush just curious and grateful to be part of this opportunity.

It sounds like you've got good vertical grouping but your horizontal dispersion is erratic. You rifle may simply be moving around left to right on whatever support you're using. Try again with the handguards on and your support further out by the front of the handguard.. |

So what's a good scope to mount with a 20 inch stealth barrel?
Don't wanna break the bank but still want some decent glass. Like under $800. I had heard good things about Mueller scopes. I bought their highest end model scope a few years ago. It was like $300. But it showed up damaged, so I returned it to the Sportsmansguide and got a refund. Never got to try it out. Wish I could remember which model it was. I think it was a 3-9 model made in Japan. I could dig through my old SG orders, but that'll take forever (I order a ton of stuff from there). Anyway, what scope for 20 inch stealth build? |
