Are you saying you can unscrew the can after engaging the locking ring?

I noticed that too. When visually inspecting the lock ring being tightened, I didn't notice anything internally changing and it will screw right off (with not a lot of force either). When I picked up the can from LaRue direct, it was stressed to simply hand tighten it until it stops then lock the ring into place. Doing this will not keep the can from rotating. I have only put 60 rounds through my can and didn't have the can back off or anything but I haven't put any sustained fire through it nor hooked it up to a FA lower yet. Hopefully after finals that will change.

I could not see any movement internally myself when turning. |

It's like having a monkey with asbestos gloves keeping a grip on it while you're shooting. Numerous cans cannot take very many rounds without removing with a plastic mallet is required - the TranQuilo does not require a hammer to get off after 100 rounds. Now we're gonna see just how well monkeys follow instructions - RTFM. |

Glad I'm not the only one, and more glad it's not defective. I locked it down and was like uuuhhhh....
Fit is fan-freaking-tastic though! |

Yeah I freaked out a bit too. Almost had to break out the purse to make sure it was on tight enough.... almost

Thanks for the more scientific analogy on the operation of the locking ring. Monkeys are cool! |

5/7/16 I shot it at the ffl's 25 yard indoor range today
The rifle has around 100 rounds through it prier to this trip. I loaded 5 rounds in the lancer mag and shot it without the suppressor. It was loud and with quit a flash with the brake as suspected. I then flipped the gas block to suppressed and shot 5 rounds and it was awesome No flash and allot quieter. I could hear the rounds hit the backstop. I loaded the lancer mag up and got a bolt over failure when chamebering the first round. I checked the mag and it was seated so I removed the mag and slapped it in. I got two rounds off and the 3rd was a bolt over. So I loaded a p mag up and tried again. This time after a couple of rounds I short stroked and the bolt removed a round but smashed the bras case. I thought to myself I could feel the rifle cycling slower so I added even more lube " I did this after the first problem with the lancer mag too" I switched the rifle back to unsuppresed and did not have any more issues. I put 60 rounds down range total I never noticed any gas smell. "My first time with a suppressor" There was no poi shift but was only shooting 25 yards. I was shooting AE xm193 as I'm not wasting match ammo at a indoor 25 yard range. The monkey did his part and the suppressor did not move and was easy to remove. I am using the buffer spring that came in the rifle. I wonder if the gas block needs to be in normal position when using a TranQuilo Peak back pressure measures roughly half of a the cans we've comparison tested. I can't wait to get my stamp so I can have all day with it outdoors. |

I didn't have much of a POI shift either, also at 25 yards so we will see when I get to shoot at an outdoor range. And yeah the brake is definitely a fire breather. Did you notice first round flash/pop with yours? I had a noticeable first round flash with mine which was surprising to me. It doesn't make much of a difference since I am not doing some "operator" night shit with mine but I could pick it up visibly every time I took a first shot. I have a few iPotato vids I can upload that shows it.

Still wondering if the suppressed setting is best for this can.

I'm interested to hear about the gas block setting as well?
When you said it was quiet, were you using any hearing protection or just shooting it with naked ears? Would you say that it is hearing safe? Are you using the NF ATACR 4-16? What are you thoughts on the scope? |

Shooting stalls have a brick wall 2' to your left and right. I was not going to try with out ears on. It was noticeably quieter though. The optic is a Nightforce 2.5x10x42. I thought about the ATACR, but think the ATACR may be too much for a 16" 5.56m for me. |

Red loctite is made to break down and be removed with heat. Barrels and suppressors get very hot. Rocksett is the answer, as it is made to withstand heat and removal is done with water when you can't just remove it with a wrench. |

I don't do mag dumps or anything with this platform, and I probably wouldn't pull the hot can off the barrel immediately, so hopefully 300 degree stability will get the job done. If not, I'll try again with Rocksett. I'll use that if/when I install a brake on my 5.56 carbine, though... That gun sees much harder use. |
