Anybody had any luck running the Tranquilo on a 8.5" 300blk build with LWRC Ultra Compact Stock? If so what gas block and buffer weight are you using?

I am using the standard buffer that came with the UCIW, I can go weigh it, but it's whatever comes in the kit. The Aero barrel is a tad undergassed - my preference with an adjustable block is finding where it will lock-back and then opening the port 2 clicks. Without the can, the bolt 'holds open' but is not locked back with the bolt catch. With the tranquillo there is just enough back pressure to lock the bolt back with the gas block wide open. I spoke with my FLGS and will likely have him open the port up, probably to .100" As a left handed shooter who's someone sensitive to gas in the face - I had no issues at all. Honestly, it was just like shooting it with the can off as far as that goes. (Same is true on my 308 LT rifle with the same can) It's a little front heavy with the tranquillo, but I like the combo, so between the 300 and the FDE heavy'tAR the Tranq seems to be my brown rifle can. Gratuitous SBR porn: http://i.imgur.com/Da2swy0h.jpg The 7" AERO rail and 8" Barrel with the Tranquillo LOOK like they are a custom fit factory setup... they are that close when you put them together. http://i.imgur.com/rOBzHoFh.jpg View Quote I just wanted to confirm you got subs to work reliably with the buffer that came with your UCIW. We did some testing on my upper with a buddies SBR. (UCIW stock kit) I pretty much had to open the Seekins lowpro adjustable gas block all the way to get it to lock back. However at that point you could feel the bolt/buffer maxing out its travel in the buffer tube. Not a huge fan of this gas block so I may change it out and go to something a little easier to adjust. View Quote As for the snow... no shit! This neck of Wyoming normally gets a couple of inches at a time that immediately blow away or evaporate or melt. This kind of winter hasn't been seen in 25-30 years. A dude with a giant tractor with a rotary attachment had to cut through the 5-8 foot drifts covering my road a couple of times. So much for being the banana belt of Wyoming. If the wind ever calms down to 10-15 mph I'll put up a target stand and see how this thing shoots compared to just the brake. But that part is par for the course around here. Funny thing is, we had a couple of weeks of mostly calm weather... right up until the day I picked up my can, and now not a still day in the forecast. |

The videos do a meh job of showing off the sound differences with the rumbling, howling wind in the background... in person it's pretty dramatic. With supersonic ammo, it was comfortable to fire off a couple of shots with no earpro. I'd say the sound of the blast is less than my 45 Osprey/P220 combo shot dry, and most of the noise is the supersonic crack. I picked up some 165gr Founding Fathers subs when I got the can, and those things are stooooooooopid quiet. Hollywood quiet, even. I have to hand cycle the bolt, of course, but my paintball gun is louder than my 308 when I shoot like that. Unsuppressed w/TQ brake for reference (Norma TAC-308 150gr) Suppressed with TQ (and a Cole-Tac Metal Python cover) shooting Norma TAC-308 150gr Suppressed with 165gr subs Sig P220 Elite Dark TB/Osprey 45/Federal HST45 for another reference A couple of glamor shots (with and without the Cole-Tac cover, and with the P220/Osprey so it didn't feel left out): ETA: Embed fail (of course, I'm not a team member). There was a Youtube button up top so I figured I'd try anyway. View Quote You win. Hell of a view. |

If it makes the months go faster,I ordered two during the LEPE OF FAITH and have yet to take delivery of either if them. Looking at the above posts it will be lucky if I see them by mid March. I'm still have a couple 1/2 off Tranquillo purchases but I'm not sure I have the patience for this shit.the wait is killing me

Hopefully by that time the HPA will be in place and it'll be just a simple firearm transfer to my local FFL. One can dream right? |
