This maybe a stupid question, but I don't know hence I'm asking, from the brands you listed is there really any substantive difference? With maybe the exception of the Brownells/Cheaper PSA (if even then)?
I have an AIM NiB bcg that has been sitting in my parts bin for a while that I'll throw in my next build, only thing I'm missing is a muzzle device.
I have a BCM in one and either a AIM or PSA in the other. At this point in time there are so many quality BCGs on the market it doesn't matter too much. I still prefer BCM BCGs I'm my hard use guns but have no scientific data to back my feels.

Not sure if this is out of your price rang

As far as a standard phosphate BCG, I like the PSA premium without a logo. I just grabbed two and I'm ultra picky. I thought they may be the closest thing to what comes with a factory stealth. HP/MPI markings on a 158 bolt. I've always found them to be very well made.
Any thoughts on the PSA nickel boron?
I don't know why, but I like the nickel/chrome look. |
I REALLY like the chrome'd bcg in my OBR heavy. I voted DD chrome
I went with a PSA Premium BCG for mine. But... I just got it in yesterday, everything looked terrific. No lubrication on it so everything was super stiff. Tried to take out the firing pin retaining pin... and it broke.
That's never happened to me before... is that a usual thing that may happen? |

I have a buddy that broke his right off the bat in his OBR. It was pretty dry and he was forcing a bit, I think. |

I will admit to yanking really hard because of how stuck it was in there. About broke my fingernail just getting it partially out. |

This thread interests me as well.
I was thinking an AIM BCG in nickel boron |
I have a chrome Daniel Defense BCG that is really nice. It is all chrome too, unlike my LaRue, which has a chrome carrier but not the actual bolt. There is no branding on it at all, no way to know who makes it. That's good and bad.
Got a Lantac EBCG extremely smooth operation in my LaRue upper with my 12" stealth barrel.

Thanks for the replies.
Themore i think about it, the more I think I want the blingy chrome or nickel. Some reason I'm favoring nickel boron. I don't have good experiences with chrome plated anything. But damn it, I can't make up my mind. Keep the picks coming. It may come down to a popularity vote. Mark, just sell me one of those pretty larue logo'd one so I can be done with it |

I only had about 200 rounds (suppressed, though) with my AIM NiB and PSA NiB BCGs before they both stained and discolored. Honestly, I'd get a nitride C158 BCG from AIM. It wipes clean effortlessly and since it's black you can't tell if it's discolored |

Wilson Combat. They're really nice. I wanted a complete spare so that's what I bought.

I have and have had a bunch of NiB BCG's and it seems like I always wish I'd gone with the tried and true, old fashioned phosphate. The biggest problem I've had is flaking. I have two brand new piston uppers from an awesome company and both of the NiB BCG's look like they may be starting just from a few hand cycles. I'm going to wait and see if it's just a Teflon top coat before I pass judgement.
I've also purchased four Rubber City Armory BCG's (.308 and 5.56) in the past year. I've found those to be my perfect upgrade to phosphate. That is if I feel the need to have one. I just received a .458 SOCOM kit today from WC and the chrome BCG that came with it is really nice. No wear and tear yet but the finish looks great. |

In my case it was both discoloring. it's just the way that NiB is. It has a lower coefficient of friction than the phosphate coating, but it also reduces the amount of friction points by having ridges. http://robarguns.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/nickel-boron-representation1.jpg Plus I got mine dirty as fuck. http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee75/Synyster06Gates/IMG_20150103_143500_zpsey4mmbk6.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Fyi, Primary Arms just started a new sale today with Fail Zero Nickel Boron bcg's for 110. They get great reviews on Primarys website, but there does seem to be some older reviews out there with gas key problems.

I'm sure this is out of your price range OP, but I'm just mentioning it for the sake of discussion. I'm surprise no one has mention titanium nitride bcg (TiN) I'm starting to see more companies pushing it

The PSA Premium is just a rebranded FN bcg, but I love mine! No issues at all, just KISS.
