I have a larue 300 blackout upper. From my friend who won the contest a couple months ago. I just put a sandman in jail and now I'm thinking about cutting the larue barrel down or replacing it with a quality short Bbl. Any thoughts ? I think I want to be about 8" under the larue rail with the sandman recessed under the rail. The larue tranquillo brake will have to go.

View Quote why dont you offer it to someone here and build your own instead of cutting up that one and selling it? you wont find a higher quality barrel by the way....just my 2 cents if you want to sell that upper IM me i know a few guys who would love to have it |
|
|
I considered selling the upper and building one. I like that its larue quality just want it shorter with the can hanging off the front.
I don't think there is anything I could build that would be better quality. I just checked with my gunsmith he said $100 to cut recrown and thread it. In the interest of keeping the laruemanatti at peace with me I will post it on EE before I do this tho. |
|

Saw you posted it. Quite a badass upper! I may be interested if only it were shorter.
Either way, due to the rarity, I'm sure you'll have a quick sale to the right buyer. |

Any new news on a LaRue 300blk upper? I have a Spikes Punisher lower with the LaRue polymer set in need of an upper.

I tried to be patient, REALY I did. Just couldn't wait any longer to start finishing my first SBR. So I "borrowed" the t-OBR upper off of my 14.5" 5.56, and chopped down a 12.5 " t-OBR hand guard to 9.5" to accommodate my current 12.5" Steath barrel and a recently purchased 10" 300 Blackout barrel. This would at least let me start sending some 300 subsonic and supersonic ammo down range for testing. So now I need to cerakote the upper and hand-guard to match the Form 1'd lower. Problem is, I can't get the locking levers off the t-OBR hand guard in order to cerakote it properly. The roll pin that holds them in place has an entry hole but no exit hole. Anyone have any experience with, or suggestions for remedying this issue?

I've looked mine over and over and couldn't see the right length to cut the guard down to. |

Yeah, I feel your pain. There really isn't an ideal length to chop it for a 10" barrel ( allowing room for can). I decided to leave the upper rail a few millimeters longer than the rest of the cut to preserve some room on the upper rail. I'll post pics later today when I get home.

Finally finished the Cerakoting and assembly of the 300 Blackout SBR tOBR build. Hope to get out this weekend and trial some commercial loads. I'll get some pics up soon. Had to pick up a generic 10" 300 barrel with a pistol length gas system at the gun show last weekend, since no offering from Mark yet . I realize a 300 Blackout SBR is never going to be a hyper accurate platform, but I would really like to make this a complete LaRue package. Anyway, it's all set up and ready for a a LaRue barrel, once they are released. Hopefully, being on the BuildAR list will help. Anyone know if it's possible to run a carbine length system on a 10" barrel?

I could not wait any longer... I bought a .300 Upper...
If and when LT ever releases one, I'll look at my finances and if I can swing it, I may still get one.. :) You can never have to many ARs or Uppers... Of course then I'll be wanting another LT lower.. Just feels wrong to purposely put an LT Upper on something other than an LT lower, especially, if its going to more than just a few months... |

I just had paperwork approved for a 9" 300 blk build. I am going to hold out for a shot show announcement but if there is no news I don't think I can bring myself to wait much longer. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, your Predatar SBR was my inspiration for this build. Took a quick trip to the range this afternoon. 25 MPH crosswinds, so no accuracy data, but was able to cycle several makes/ loads both suppressed and unsuppressed through him with no significant issues. Surprised me, given the pistol length gas system. Really happy with the balance .

Thanks. I'm kind of partial to it also. I know the strength of the tOBR system is the interchangeability of the barrels and calibers, but man, that 14.5 inch barrel and handguard look awful lonely sitting in the safe. Sure would like to reacquaint it with the original non-Form 1 lower and a spanking new, complete LaRue tOBR upper.

Yes. The way I cut the guard the rails line up nicely at the front edge of the cut hand guard, on the sides and bottom, with no overlap. No cutting of the bolt on rail sections was required.
