Apparently, I'm incorrect. The SOCOM just needed to be tightened down correctly. View Quote That would be counter to everything I've read on the subject. The way I understand it : - SOCOM cans spin on the legacy brakes because there is not a "key" to index them to. Tightening just keeps them on the mount ring but doesn't index them consistently ... Hence the "text up or down" to try to keep them as physically consistent as possible (though there is still spin possible). - Legacy cans won't work on a SOCOM mount because of the key and not being able to engage properly. If that's incorrect I've spent some money for no reason swapping out legacy brakes for SOCOMs to match my cans ... Including my Costa. I'm willing to defer to higher power but a good solid final answer would be helpful. I think coregon had this all worked out final some time back ? |

Apparently, I'm incorrect. The SOCOM just needed to be tightened down correctly. I will check my costa with the Socom 7.62 can! Line it up to a witness mark of your choosing, really crank down on the locking mechanism (which you should always do), get a zero, then repeat. From our tests out back, I'm guessing your zero should be good-to-go and no movement will occur during continued use. |

Maybe ML can weigh in on this? View Quote IMHO YMMV etc etc Nobody here cares what you do with your personal property. Buy a LT rifle or anything for that matter, if you can sell it for twice what you paid for it? Outstanding. Welcome to America. Thank a Veteran. I am fairly certain Capitalism is what keeps LaRue Tactical in business, among other things. Why pray tell, would ML or anyone at LT care what you do with your rifle once it leaves Casa De Leander on the brown truck? I think quite the opposite, 500 $3K+ rifles sell out in a collective matter of minutes? Then some are re-sold where someone pays 3 times the cost? You can bet I would consider my limited edition rifles an overwhelming success and would be planning for the next limited edition. The heartache comes, when someone purchases the Costa rifle strictly to resell when others wanted the rifle to keep but missed the opportunity. Dont confuse being butt hurt, with being frowned upon. This is America dammit, and until LT offers Texas spec maxi pads with orders, those that missed out will have to deal with it or buy one from someone who was faster than they were. End of story. I am not giving you grief, just a different perspective. And for the record, my Costa will never be sold at any price |

Please explain to me, why what we are discussing (purchasing a rifle, and selling for profit) is unethical as you suggest? Serious question here. There is absolutely nothing unethical about it. Again, it should go without saying that your personal hurt feelings, and being unethical are two completely different things. Took out Costa for first time yesterday with my buddy. First 4 shots out of her were all nearly through same hole at 50 yds while sighting her in, I wish I took a pic of it but was so focused on sighting her in because it was only 15 deg out. My buddy said, damn that thing is a keeper. He really was impressed with the Larue.

Anybody else notice that the screws attaching the rail to the upper receiver are black in this last batch? Mine is the only one I've seen in person, but all the photos I've seen of earlier batches are FDE. I prefer the black, although it's not really a significant difference.
