Mr. LaRue, another question: I'm not disparaging your barrel making, or your test-shooter's skills. Those are obviously great and getting ever better, given some of the proof targets you've shared. Would there perhaps be an incentive for an owner to outshoot their proof target? Never challenge a unicorn wrangler! Not challenging... Just asking... Naw, I like it, maybe start a sticky thread and whip up a few "I Outshot The Shootist" dillos. ETA - I gathered the targets up and took the pic ... waiting on my IT linquist to send me back an IMG of it. Ooooo I like that! It might make me save up and buy an HDMR sooner. Not to stoke the age-old debate again, but since there might be a dillo on the line, should the shooter be required to shoot a five shot group? The reason being we get many chances to outshoot the shootist. Shouldn't we try to level the playing field a little? Maybe it's a 3-shot group but you have one chance to do it in the copy of the test target that came with the rifle? Just some ideas to make it a real accomplishment and not simply an exercise in persistence. |

If our shooter doesn't pick it up a little, we're gonna have to close out this fine Friday with a .164".
5-day pic to follow ... ML |

So the question is, how soon can we start buying the barrels???? I could also use a LT lower to go with UHFO stealth upper. Have yet to shoot it because I dont want to slap a lower quality lower on it Arfcom billet lower is a good choice. Who was making LT's before they went in house. I forget. This is the droid you are looking for, if you dig the little mule head logo. Also, VERY nice groupings Mark Can't wait to get my PredatAR, I saw the tracking number yesterday |

I am glad to hear your PredatAR is on its way 'home'. ETA: Dammit, I am bad at this. Mark..Excellent work.. .. whoever is doing that shooting has to go home everyday with the biggest damn grin. |

These targets have got me drooling. I know it may be a while until I get my tOBR but it will definitely be worth the wait. Based on these targets it may be tough to outshoot the shooter though.

Mark, can I trade my 18" 7.62 LW PredatOBR barrel for one that was made in house? I feel shorted, even though it came with a .9something test target. Order# 25192 I'd even trade for a 14.5"!

View Quote Do you even reload bro ? In all seriousness ... we caught our guy drifting late yesterday evening ... hammerin' 308s all day makes one lose focus. Switched shooters, turned a 1.1"er into a .7"er. Just verifying by group shooting is time-consumin', ammo-consumin' enough. Get out and shoot yours, find it's favorite load, center your zero into the middle of where it wants to shoot, etc. |

View Quote Was yours a 5 shot test target or 3? Have you tried to replicate your test target or fired it at all? The reason I ask is the majority of people with a .9, .8 etc... have reduced their groups significantly once the barrel is broke in. I instantly shot better than my test target, but it wasn't against the new shootist. My LW TAR came with a .9 and now when "I" shoot it, it's a sub 1/2 minute gun and wouldn't trade it for anything. Whose to say mine isn't capable of .2's, I mean I shoot once or twice a month, and the shootist has a calloused trigger finger. |

We're not trying to hide a damn thing.
I just like picking the smallest groups shot each day ... and on some days a whole bunch of the smallest groups shot, to show what the process does when all the flinching aligns. ETA - It's gonna take some time for it to sink in, but I do anticipate us becoming widely known throughout the market for making interestingly accurate rifles. And you can bet I am lying awake at night as to how to shorten that sinking in time. "Only accurate rifles are interesting." - Townsend Whelen A short bio of Townsend Whelen |

Today, after about two dozen of the proof-group targets had gotten through measurement, 23 to be exact, I averaged them = .697".
He got better as the day wore on ... there was a .1-something in there too. |

Since you posted best of the week early, today can you post up worst of the week?

It would be an 8 or 9-something ... all averaged in to be around 0.62 moa. Of course, between function testing and accuracy testing, our barrels have only about a dozen rounds through 'em. We leave some room for the new owner to take an ownership part in the rifle's accuracy ... through reloading to a sweet spot, taking their time and trying, etc. And here's the update ... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/AUSTINWFT/LT%20Post/photo_zpsec1392a2.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I am really digging all the targets from the past week or so, because I know in one of those batches is mine. (Well I am hoping it is anyway.) My tobr will be in tomorrow according to UPS tracking. I can hardly wait to see which one it is.

A material supplier stopped in on a call today ... whispered that he saw the targets on Facebook, and suggested we take the extra time to hit the bullseye.

Wow, seems like they are getting better. I'm thinking the second match-grade production generation of these things will be flat out bughole barrels.
|
|
Hey, if you put another round through an existing hole, doesn't that count as a miss since you didn't actually hit anything but air????
(For those with missing brain matter, I'm just kidding!!!!) |
